I’ve had another realization!
For all my adult life, whenever I have company or am company at someone else’s house, I have these dreadful mornings because I wake up 3-5 hours before anyone else (especially after a fun late night of drinking, which is what you do when visiting. Tragically, drinking makes ME wake up EARLIER than usual, and EVERYONE ELSE wake up LATER than usual. What in living fuck??), and then just lay there in bed getting more and more antsy and hungry. JUST TODAY, for the first time, did it strike me that I could just get up and go do something with that chunk of time.
We’ve got company. I woke up at 7:00. They won’t wake up until 9:00 at the earliest, probably more like 11:00. I lay there for a second, having my usual feeling of “oh shit.” They’re sleeping in the living room! I must just lay here silently for four hours! But then suddenly I was like “I could go to the coffee shop and submit three job applications and read that article for class on Monday.” And within 30 minutes, I was here (coffee shop)!
Just goes to show you, you can empower yourself to excel the data
Take charge of your own whole deal. This is something Katy is very good at that I always think about emulating. If you’re hungry, get yourself fed. If you want to get up and do something, get up and do something.
Speaking of Katy, for two days in a row she and Nicole have driven past me at the exact same spot on the street while I’ve been walking somewhere, AND, the second time Katy and I were wearing the same clothes as the first time, AND, those clothes are kind of matching (striped shirts).
Life is short
On to job applications!
I also wake up very early when I drink. Last night I had a bunch of red wine, and ended up waking up at 5 in the morning. Too freaking early. So I drank a ton of water and forced myself to go back to bed.
The notion is that your body processes the alcohol during the night, and it converts alcohol into sugar. So when you wake up, you are experiencing a powerful sugar rush. It’s partially a sign that you should drink more water along with your alcohol, but it’s also just the rate at which you process the alcohol itself. On a few occasions I’ve woken up slightly inebriated after having only three glasses of wine.
