  • That's weird. It looks great/works great on the phone! I'm on a phone right now. Why Mr. iPad gotta be a buster?
  • Yeah, I know. Phone totally works.
  • I am going to the airport soon for a vacation flight
    (yay!!)
    and Im wondering about parking.
any good recommendations on dos and donts for which company is trustworthy?
  • Where are you going, twinpeaksman_69?

Your 8-acre "hunting" farm in northern Idaho?
  • Do you need a pickup and dropoff, twinpeaksmin?
I run a service. It's free of charge and can ease the stress of travel.

How far out do you need to know about a need?
I am going to the middle west at the beginning of November, and would love to take advantage of this service please!
  • I just experienced airports.
    Atlanta <--> Seattle
Saw a cockroach in Atlanta's airport on the escalator.
It was a prequel for the weekend.

  • Ack!
Sorry I missed you, @bookhouseboyP. I didn't see this until now.

@Audrey_Horne, advance warning is good, last minute can happen too, but warning is always good. Count me in for the beginning of November.
  • It's always good to send your flight info to @Pete_Martell so he can look online and see if flights are delayed or anything.
  • Flight Tracking services provided at no extra cost!
  • Guess who's going to DTW for American Thanksgiving

  • Just chillin' at the Kona airport in Hawaii. Guys, the gates are outside!
Hanging out under a palm tree, reading books, looking at cool birds and admiring the new UH homepage.
I look forward to being home and real autumn...
  • Hey @Pet_Bird I look forward to you guys being back.
  • I have a hawaii trip in my future. I think I'll go in 2011. Hawa11.
  • I would like to retweet @Gordon_Cole.

I figured with the incorporation of hashtags, I might be able to. Apparently no.
  • At the airport now, headed to LA, the greatest city in America.
  • have fun in burrito land, please eat a burrito once while thinking of me, hopefully a little bit of joy will trickle into my guts from afar

my parents are arriving today! GUC-->CID by way of Denver or something. what an epic regional airport adventure
  • where are the good burritos in LA?
    HOOK ME UP

  • taco trucks
El Chile (next to the Whole Foods on Fairfax, weird location, but muy autentico) (no lard in beans (I asked (so not totally autentico but whatever)))
amazing tacos at the Grove (another weird location) in the Ye Olde Farmers Market part, in a place called La Loteria. CACTUS AND POTATO TACOS
A place by Franz's old house I can't remember the name of, on like near Hollywood and Highland?
A place in Santa Monica called TACOS POR FAVOR that is epic (fajita burrito will rule you! No lard in beans either). It's on Olympic and like 15th or thereabouts

these are my faves but probably other LA homies can offer other options, depending on what part of town you are in.

  • niiiice. thank you, TW.

I'm going to go to ALL of these.
  • I'm going to be spoiled, food-wise. Not only am I staying with my food blogger friend Nathan (http://www.thechocolateofmeats.com/), I'm hoping to meet up with our Hot Knives friends as well.....
  • Go to my bar (Verdugo Bar)
  • Just got back fro Leo's taco truck:

  • So glad to be escaping the cold rainyness.

For someplace normally more temperate and with palm trees.

Sitting in the airport applying suntan lotion.
    So excited!
Glad I packed some shorts and my swim trunks.
Let me just quickly check the weather of where I'll be...

  • The piano lady at PDX is playing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" right now...at the airport....in late November. (it's not a football song)
  • No body scanning or pats down at PDX yet.
  • !!!!!

Loving these live blogs. Bummer about the rain! But great about the ballgame song.

When you think about it, why don't we call football/soccer/etc. "the ballgame?" They all are games involving balls.

I realize that song gets much more baseball-specific than just this term but I am just wondering. How did baseball corner the market on being called a "ball game?"

SOMEONE SHOULD WRITE A SCHOLARLY ARTICLE

I hope you have fun in spite of the rain, Uncle Butts
  • The sun peeked out briefly this morning here in wonderful Los Angeles. I think it's getting ready for you Steve.
  • So no one has had their balls or hoo hah touched so far? I'm flying out next weekend, wondering if I'm going to be sexually assaulted or not. RIGHTS? WHAT ARE THOSE?
  • PDX doesn't do the scanner or groping yet. Flying out of LAX today. WHICH SHOULD I DO!!??!
  • groping, absolutely.

    (a) no "scatterback" radiation, whatever the fuck that is (doctors say it gives you cancer)
    (b) creates a huge clog at the airport thus pissing the airport off thus making it slightly likely TSA will cancel this whole bullshit requirement
    (c) no one will see you naked and then post the pictures on the internet

I dread this and hate it. This is making me consider almost never flying again except when it's simply too far to drive (i.e. Japan). FUCK THIS. Fuck this stupid country.

I wouldn't be surprised if we found out that this mandatory requirement exists because of lobbying from whatever bullshit corporation manufactures the scanning machines. I mean, really.

    GO GROPE

Sorry, trans people and people with sexual trauma and people with body shame and people who wear fake boobs and autistic people and basically most people on the planet who don't want strangers fondling them or seeing them naked. SORRY TO US ALL
  • I'd also like to shout-out a sorry to the people whose jobs just turned them into the strangers fondling strangers.
  • I'm choosing groping next week on my way back from DC. I'm not stepping into that infernal machine.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if we found out that this mandatory requirement exists because of lobbying from whatever bullshit corporation manufactures the scanning machines. I mean, really.
    YUP.
  • PDX -> DFW -> BUR on Friday
    LAX -> PDX on Monday
LA I LEARNED TO LOVE YOU.
  • "I'd also like to shout-out a sorry to the people whose jobs just turned them into the strangers fondling strangers."

Do they not have free will? They disgust me most of all because they are the kind of people that will end up loading "undesireables" into a crowded train car.

"Hey, I'm not killing those people, I'm just loading them onto this train like I was told to do. I need to buy a Nintendo Wii for my kids."

    I'M SORT OF NOT EXAGGERATING.

  • that last link is EPIC.
  • free wifi at Toronto's Pearson Airport!

Plus, the weirdness of a 1/2 acre patch of Amurrica within Canada, you go through USA customs & immigration before you even check your bags. Makes it much easier to catch a connecting flight but it's strange.

    PDX -> O'hare
    Alaska's whole fleet has wi-fi.
What's a good mindless streaming sci-fi or fantasy movie on Netflix right now?
  • you could get into Battlestar Gallactica, but that's not mindless.

I just think everyone should watch it is all.

  • This probably belongs in the TV thread, but since it has been brought up already, I feel OK in saying that I just finished watching the entire BSG series and it was really good.
  • We're more than half way done and loving it!
