pdfs

dang y’all, two of you have now told me that iPads are good for pdfs! I always just thought an iPad was basically a laptop with no keyboard, so I was like, why would I get one of those? But annotating and writing on pdfs = “now I’m interested.” Another glowing rectangle to stare ceaselessly at, but now WITH PDF FUNCTIONS.

Oh to ditch these reams of print-outs!!

It’s funny how conceptually different “books” and “print-outs” are. I want a million books but I want zero print-outs.

How are we all feeling about eye strain and stuff? If I transition even more of my reading time to glowing screens what am I asking for? I’m already legally blind so I guess why not just go for it and hope for the best.

PDFS

Some people don’t have any pdfs in their lives, isn’t that weird?

Yesterday I rode my bike 14 miles! I haven’t done that since the old days of being a pseudo-bike messenger for that internet shopping company that went out of business because (a) they were just a little bit ahead of their time and (b) lets face it they paid their delivery people WAY too much. I made $14 an hour PLUS FULL BENEFITS, and it was the year 2000, so that’s like I don’t know $100 an hour today or something. It was great. I worked 32 hours a week but in three epic 10.5 hour shifts in a row, so I had a four day weekend every week. What a great job. That’s where I was when Bush v. Gore was going down, can you imagine? The good old days

Anyway I rode 14 miles to get some tea. That’s a true story. There’s an herb shop far far away that makes all the good tea blends I like for my body, so I rode there. It was great. I traversed the whole city just upon my own two legs and wheels. This city is so spectacular with the bike culture that I was hardly ever on an awkward busy street–it was mostly leafy bike lanes. At one point I got stuck in a traffic jam…OF BIKES. On the way home I got a flat and used modern technology to find the closest bike shop and the dude just fixed my flat right away for basically zero dollars AND there was a bowl of free Starburst just sitting there. I hadn’t had a Starburst in years and it tasted INCREDIBLE. Ultimate candy. Why should it be so good, is it just because it reminds me of childhood?

Anyway back to Byron

I used the note system when reading the Game of Thrones series, because there are a crazy number of names in that story. It helped. I even used it to keep track of some of my own commentary.
