correspondence from middle-earth (cartwheels version)

My pops is a lifelong Wyomingite and the best sociological gauge I have of the Republican party, Western division: he is a dyed-in-the-wool fiscal conservative. He is not socially conservative (though anyone who tries to tell you the fiscal and the social are seperable is perverse) but he is “cautious.” Like most Wyomingites, he rides for rugged individualism and unshakable work ethic: small government, gun rights, and “get the hell off my lawn.” This summer while I was visiting he called me and said, “Do you want to go to the rodeo, or are you still a tree-hugger?” And he voted Reagan, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, I’ll tell you that much.
But today, on this glorious morning where Nancy “bitchslap a president” Pelosi is about to take the whole shit to church, I received this missive from my father:
“Yes, I voted. And you will never believe it but I voted mostly Democratic, too. So did Pam!”
(Pam being my father’s long-term wife, a farm-raised Coloradoan, conservative-leaning but for an animal-rights soft spot.)
