Earliest Amazon purchase?

edited November 2011
Go to "Your Orders", choose the earliest date possible from the Date pop-up (Orders Placed in YEAR) and share the date and contents of your first Amazon order. Note that your earliest is on the bottom, not the top.

March 24th 2000 I ordered Bruce Sterling's "A Good Old-Fashioned Future : Stories" as a gift order for one "Nacho Berezin" for a total of $9.58

MY FIRST CELL PHONE (not counting the Nextel one Jona and I shared (??)) WAS MY FIRST AMAZON ORDER?!??
  • p.s. have only had 2 phones since this one.

Also still on that plan, but they keep making it more spectacular because of how long I've been with them. Now I'm on this weird "Unlimited Loyalty" plan where I get everything free and unlimited, all times, all locations, all text messages, and it's like $60 a month

I must have changed emails or something.

    The earliest item listed is:

Feb. 9, 2008 THE FIRE: The Collected Essays of Robin Blaser

In fact, I'm pretty sure my first order was placed in mid-1996: OUR STOLEN FUTURE by Theo Colburn.

I was introduced to Amazon through the book club Stewart Brand maintained for the Global Business Network. I own two items from his 1996 booklist: OUR STOLEN FUTURE and SOROS ON SOROS. Maybe I ordered them at the same time.

I remember the very utilitarian design of the custom shipping package when it arrived. The books were wrapped in a self-adhesive corrugated cardboard roll. I was impressed.

(By the way, Jeff Bezos is a spoiled, stingy, union-busting creep that helped kill the vote for Washington State's "millionaire's" tax.)
  • Not the earliest one ever, but the earliest I could access:
9/1/2005- Ethnographic Eyes: A Teacher's Guide to Classroom Observation
  • Some time in 2000 i bought:

    Zoot Suit and Other Plays
    Luis Valdez

I was in a theater class in college and we were assigned something that the library didn't have.
  • Didn't buy anything again until 2003 when i got a gift certificate for xmas. I bought

    The New Sins (book)
    David Byrne

    Segundo (CD)
    Juana Molina
  • Remember "Amazon doesn't belong here?"
