I am feeling the Bern. I have a question though. I am all for a single payer system - I think it makes sense, but doesn't that mean that hundreds of thousands of people with jobs in Health insurance will be unemployed? I know some people would get jobs in the single payer system, but certainly not a majority. Wouldn't that cause another crisis? Lots of hypotheticals, but I am legitimately curious, and folks here are smarter than me. I don't see that brought up when we talk about single payer systems.
Yeah, I was wondering along the same lines: how does the infrastructure get built or transferred to a public system? Countries like England and Canada have had government-run healthcare for a long time, but the US doesn't have any experience with that.
Would the federal government just contract out to companies like Kaiser and Providence, or would they build their own facilities? Either way, it's a very complicated proposition. I still support universal health care; I just don't know how it would be implemented from a practical perspective.
