She was concerned about air/noise pollution from I-5 for that place on Michigan...I personally wouldn't GAF but I see her point, and I bet Sasha would feel similarly.
Fingers crossed for you, Alex. The place you made an offer on looks unbelievably amazing (I walk past all the time and think, "Ooh, I'd like to live there.").
I'm surprised it's listed for such a reasonable amount! Good luck!
The way I was supposed to feel when a bunch of you (ie people I know) started having babies is the way I actually feel now that you're all buying nice houses/condos. I've got the itch :(
So, I had favorited it last week on Redfin and signed up to receive emails when the status changed, but for some reason, I never set up a viewing. I received an update that it went Pending, and thought, "ah well, that place looked potentially nice but I guess it got snapped up".
On Thursday at 3pm, I received another email that it had changed from pending back to active. So I thought WHY NOT? and sent an email to my realtor. She thought it would be worth checking out, so we went and saw it at 6pm...it actually turned out to be SUPER RAD and Sasha and I both agreed that it was probably the best price for anything in that hood and we both really loved it.
Had an offer in by 10pm Thursday, and it was accepted at 4pm on Friday!
I guess the first offer was from an older lady and her family convinced her to drop the offer because they were worried that she'd hurt herself on the stairs up to the condo.
We met the neighbors and they all seem great.
It's such a great little place. Front terrace, sunroom, back yard, big room in the basement, etc! Pretty excited! Inspection happens Wednesday.
(But I have a feeling we will not move very quickly. I could see us getting preapproved and then spending a year looking at houses. We have pretty specific needs plus Ian is suuuuper deliberative.)
Criteria: Fairly close to a New Seasons or Whole Foods (prefer NS), relatively new construction / recent renovation (don't want to "fix up"), well-insulated, neighbors aren't trashy and annoying like current ones, doesn't have to be that big (no kids on horizon), East side, around $300k-ish.
Right next to Peninsula park (maybe too close to I-5, but that means you're near the MAX). Adorable bungalow with a separate basement apartment! You could rent that out for $500-$600 EASY and pay less than $1000 for your mortgage and taxes and everything.
If I had another down payment lying around I would buy it myself!

Came on the market yesterday.
Once we've all closed on our own places and are financially stable again, we need to buy an Urban Honking cabin/timeshare/thing together.

Also, can we all just pool some money and buy the UrHo Clubhouse?
