I'm so nervous, tomorrow I am going to a fancy event for work
WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR

I think I am going to go the arty/bohemian route. Strong brows, black clothing, a whole flattened animal's body draped over my shoulders. So everyone knows that while I am poor I am rich in style
  • L_T you will kill them with this look.
  • It's too nice outside
  • I'm babysitting the Summerland shop on Burnside in that place where Nationale, Sword & Fern, etc are. Door's open, come on in!
  • Snoopy and I have been on TWO jogs that's how nice it is outside
    Snoopy's like "huh???"
    Now we're listening to Motown

    #nobigdeal
  • it's so nice out, and I can't do shit about it!

twisted my ankle dancing, like a dummy, and can only do a funny shuffle/hop, no walking.
  • go sit outside! don't need your ankle to do that!

    NEW DEVELOPMENT IN SKY
Perhaps you've noticed a warm ball of light in the sky the last few days. That's what scientists call "The Sun," and it keeps plants and animals alive. Planets (like Earth) actually orbit around it.
If you have any questions about The Sun, just ask a researcher! He or she may know something about it, or know someone who does.

That is from my company newsletter today : - ) It's not usually comedic... today is so important and everyone is jazzed up
  • I very much want to go to First Friday tonight, but I don't know if I can walk around that much.
    You guys should go!
Great art show at Nationale- the amazing Aidan Koch, drawings and ceramics.
Also, re-opening of Sword & Fern, which has been closed for remodeling!
  • MY god.... I don't think I can take it
I feel like a child in school
  • Fun! I've seen Aidan's drawings, but not ceramics. I want to go to this, but I will be driving to the Dalles for debauchery

I spent my indoor boredom time today watching this great doc about the making of Carrie, one of the best movies, duh!

If you're not at work or outside... yeah, so that's pretty much nobody. Save it for a rainy day!
  • argh, can't find the long link in youtube anymore!
    :/
  • I'm going to see the Jefferson High School dancers tonight at the Newmark Theater! They are one of the best dance companies in Portland- I am so excited!

I've made my short tennis-style dress demure for school with a pair of gray tights but now that the kids are gone the tights are coming off! Sun sun sun here I come!
  • The Jefferson Dancers are so amazing!!!
    I almost joined!
  • You did?!? Did you go to Jeff??
    You r cool.
  • edited May 2013
I didn't go to Jeff, was only going to go for the dancing. Parents nixed it because at that time the academics there were pretty neglected. I ended up quitting dance right before HS anyway, so that I could read Jack Kerouac and smoke cloves behind the school.
    :/

But at my middle school we had a dance program w the Jefferson teachers and they totally invited me to come do it! I was already in a modern dance company for kids (only in Portland?) and I thought it would be pretty cool to go to Jeff and learn how to tap really well...

For the record... here's what my high school dance experience looked like (actual photos from my modern dance teacher's productions... yeah we had a badass, corny FAME style school... lotta talent in Vegas)
  • LT, I was just talking last night about how I visited your high school when I was doing that job that involved going to high schools!

    It was THE COOLEST.
  • I hope you got to see some talented teens sashaying their butts off in the quad.
  • I just went to the Cinco de Mayo festival on the waterfront. It was free entrance until 3. I drank a watermelon lemonade and looked at airbrushed t shirts and watched an amazing mariachi band plus rad dancers in amazing costumes from Guadalajara. It was so relaxing and beautiful outside. Oh, also we feed butterflies in the Butterfly Experience.
  • Real butterflies?
  • image

    done for the day
  • I got three teeth cracked out of my head (the second one took like 40 minutes, WORST 40 minutes of my life no joke) and now I've got two teabags in my mouth for an hour trying to get the wounds to clot while my lovely girlfriend is making carrot soup!
  • OH NO!!!!!!!!!
  • Alex!!! Poor you!!
  • I'm so sorry. Wisdom extraction is brutal! May the mush be with you.... I hope you have many milkshakes.
  • THE BEST wisdom teeth food--cultured almond milk, sliced bananas and a few scoops of peanut butter all mixed together.
  • You were awake during the extraction? I didn’t know that was a thing. I was fully sedated when my 4 came out.
  • I was awake and on nitrous and anesthetic.

I've been having this terrible headache the last couple of days, but the dentist thinks it's CAFFEINE WITHDRAWAL and not actually related to the tooth extraction, so now I'm enjoying an iced coffee in hopes of killing that.

Been inside all weekend though, except I left once to get a milkshake.
  • Also GOOD GOD Farm Cafe no longer has the mashed potatoes/tofu entree? That thing was amazing. And I wanted to eat it tonight. WORST WEEKEND EVER. #emo #tweemo
  • RIP that dish. I ate it a lot.

We did paddleboats on Blue Lake today. Pretty sweet. Funny how you can live somewhere for years and still find new stuff like that.
  • I seem to be in PDX. Kinda thoisty...
  • My favorite part of this Friday was when I spilled juice all over my white pants then asked Mr. Merrill accompany me to J Crew (to buy shorts) where they complimented him for his "very J Crew look". ha ha
  • It's like they've never heard of Brooks over there. Sheesh.
  • I think it probably is like "he looks like a catalog model/styled by a profesh/looks expensive/looks like a product."
    What an evocative man!

Brands like J Crew exist as a kind of charity ward for unserious shoppers. They provide a service by removing those without discernment from the field.

Unencumbered by contrivance, the steadfast artisan and insightful patron consumate the intimate exchanges that provide for the renewal of industry without distraction from the braying of the commons.
  • my job-interview suit is from J Crew
    and everyone finds this funny
I've had 2 different experiences of someone thinking it was a joke and then having to re-construct their facial expression when they realize it's not

    ??

I thought J Crew suit was classy for a lady! Plus I got the pants turned into straight-leg and they look better....Am I secretly gross/trashy and don't know it? I think my suit looks good but I have zero fashion sense in this regard...

  • There's absolutely nothing wrong with J. Crew.

    Not trashy.

If you feel good you probably look good.

If anyone were to negatively judge you based on that they are asshole.

Michelle Obama shops at J Crew, so it can't be gross/trashy.

I only buy new clothes from Lands End because they're the only place to get shirts that fit my weird body.
  • Color me undiscerning! Love a J Crew shift dress. Love my J Crew navy blazer.
  • edited June 2013
I am confident that Mike understands that Brooks Brothers is established to offer gentlemen fine garments while other services exist to clothe the naked.
  • I like J Crew too.
  • I have never been inside a JCrew...
  • !!!!!!!!!

JC is such a lifelong staple. It's the total go-to for tomboys who don't really know what to do w/r/t fashion. Some of their shit is so handsome!

Lolo you must be just a bit too young to have lived through the Great J Crew Rollneck Sweater fad of the early-mid 90s
