Here is a contract job I recently heard about, good for someone who is transitioning from Dev to UX:

"Our client is looking for a mobile web developer to work with a UX designer and digital strategist building a mobile web prototype. This will be an iterative or agile style project. So being able to build and test over and over will be key. The most important skill/knowledge you'll need to have is jQuery libraries. The site will be about 50 screens.

The client wants a developer who gets UX and can be involved and contribute ideas.

The project will be about 40 hours/week onsite for the next five weeks. This is a client-side client and they have a business casual dress-code. The team seems really fun and wants to build good digital."

If this is something you are interested in let me know and I'll connect you to the person who told me about it!

  • Business casual? Gross.
  • What the fuck is "50 screens"
  • CLIENT-SIDE CLIENT

    Infinite loop.
  • That being said, if I was freelance, I'd go for this. Polo shirt tucked into khakis. That's business cas, right?
  • JUST MAKE THE TIE MANDATORY!

A friend of mine is looking for a "formally trained graphic artist" for a design/preprint shop with experience in print and web (no coding, just need to understand usability and UX). Appreciation of typography is a bonus. Portfolio required. Contact me if interested. If no response here, try gene at spack dot organization.
  • Gene, I'd definitely look into Jen Davidson Wick, friend to UrHo via Portland Mercury.
  • A friend of mine needs someone (soon) to create some "very clean" HTML markup based on Fireworks designs. He says it's probably a couple days worth of work and there is pay, but I'm not sure how much. E-mail me if you're interested: curt dot merrill at gmail

(I would probably do it, but I don't have time)
