This one is my favorite "old" board game, created in the 60s but I just discovered it this winter. Takes about 10min to learn and has crazy replay value. http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/5/acquire
And this one is pretty much the greatest two-player strategy game ever invented. If you enjoy Risk or Axis & Allies this will probably blow your mind. A little bit higher learning curve as you have to play a few times to learn how to use/combine the event cards to your advantage. http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12333/twilight-struggle
If you are interested in learning/playing either of these I tend to do my gaming (every other) Sunday afternoon at Guardian Games, Thursday evenings at Hawthorne Lucky Lab or weekend late mornings at my place.
Other recent faves; Dominion, Citadels, Eclipse, Carson City, and Through the Ages (Civilization as a board game)
