  • It's true that tea "doesn't work" as well as coffee, but coffee doesn't work in a different way: the way where I was up until 3:30am feeling like a maniac after I drank that latte at lunch.
  • No.

Tea is for nighttime, and should be sleepy-based (chamomile, catnip, skullcap, valerian, kava, peppermint) ONLY

    All other tea is bullshit

Yes, 10,000 years of Chinese culture is wrong, dead wrong

    (JK)

But seriously, my tea-rage is directed only at those who have SWITCHED to tea from coffee, not lifelong tea-preferers (like the Chinese and possibly Smelly Meadow). Seriously, once you've had coffee you can't sincerely tell me tea accomplishes the same thing in your life. That is bullroar and scandalous libel and I won't stand for it

  • "coffee doesn't work in a different way: the way where I was up until 3:30am feeling like a maniac after I drank that latte at lunch. "

    this is true

it is the more powerful substance; hence my championing of it and my disbelief that tea works "just as well"
  • The Bowery. Let's do it.

    WHEN?

I propose we do it this coming Thursday. But I'm open to another day...
  • The Bowery | Thursday, June 28th | 7:30 AM

    I'm in
  • If you don't want your face bit off, don't make it look so tasty.

I love it when a plan comes together.
  • Oh I am in Toronto right now but I love this idea, I work in the farthest stretches of the Pearl but don't have to be in until 9a, I am going to try to make this coffee palaver, especially since jet lag will be working in my favor.
Tea is nice but COFFEE FOR LYFE!
  • THURSDAY MORNING COFFEE CLUB.

I'm pretty psyched about this for no real reason.

Sharky, can you seriously deny this?
    OMG
    TEA

Delicate and powerful, you must drink many cups and savor the flavor before you zoom away. If you drink it right (MANY CUPS) you will achieve liftoff. With milk and sugar, it is a nectar of the gods. Add a cookie snack, and you're living like a king in the afternoon.

British Peoples drink tea, like, all day long, so it really does accomplish the same thing as coffee. That is a LOT of goddamn caffeine let me tell you! I learned this the hard way doing a home-stay in Scotland when en route to study abroad and being served approx. 85 cups of tea a day that I was too nervous/polite to refuse and then being unable sleep, eat, or speak coherently.

    RIGHT ON OWL

My mom drinks like 6 cups of tea a day. No sugar, but a splash of milk for sure.

I LOVE TO DRINK TEA WITH MY LDN HOMIES BEFORE OR AFTER A SKATE, OR WITH A FRY-UP, OR JUST WHENEVER.

I drank coca leaf tea in Mexico City. It's the same stuff cocaine is made from! Good for a nice wake up. There are so many cool teas.

That being said, I will probably never give up coffee. I'm drinking one right now!
  • I love this vibe too, in a totally different way...

If you want to TRY CLASSIC TEA to be diplomatic or just, you know, enjoy your life, try one of the following- can be consumed black, with splash of milk or soy, dash of sugar or honey, or sometimes with lemon.

    ENGLISH BREAKFAST
    IRISH BREAKFAST
    DARJEELING
    ASSAM
    PG TIPS
    EARL GREY
    ORANGE PEKOE
LAPSANG SOUCHONG *smoky and deep like whiskey, do not add lemon

  • waking up early is weird
staying up late is not weird
coffee - one big cup, once a day, move on with life
if it isnt working, something else is broken that more coffee will never fix
  • Today is my first salty day. T+0:30 and feeling good.

This is the tea I usually drink: http://www.townshendstea.com/black-teas/yunnan-hong-cha

It's great, because it's very hard to over-steep it. It pretty much never gets bitter. I drink two big cups a day.

Maybe "salts" is a cute name like "Mama's Li'l Helpers."

"Doc, I'm having a hard time doing my work..."
  • oh..."focusing salts"
  • Yeah, those. Chemically it's amphetamine salts. T+2:27. Did a bunch of cleaning. Feeling great. Listening to dub and enjoying the sunshine.
  • maybe I have never had a really good cup of english-style tea?
whenever i make english breakfast or whatever, and add milk and honey and lemon, it just tastes like weird warm milk and honey. Not a beverage for a grown-ass woman who is trying to get some motherfucking work done!

Someone make me real english tea and then I will make my decision
  • Just a touch of milk. It's kind of like a non-spicy chai...
  • YOU DON'T PUT HONEY AND LEMON IN THAT ENGLISH BREAKFAST SHIT. WHAT A TRAVESTY!
  • Don't do milk either! Adding milk cancels all the health benefits of tea.
  • But I thought milk and honey was the whole point!
Maggie Smith is always slugging milk into somebody's tea in some movie or other
  • Exactly--it's meant as an insult

Milk in tea 'blocks health gains'

Adding milk to a cup of tea can destroy its ability to protect against heart disease, according to research.

That's the BBC, not a fucking Drudge or Huffington Post link!
  • Dudes, adding milk is what makes it taste good.

If you're looking for health benefits drink that motherfucking fermented OOLONG with nothing added- that is the stuff that's good for your bod.

Proper tea is about taste and pleazure!

ALEX I DO NOT ADVOCATE LEMON OR HONEY IN BLACK TEA BUT IT HAPPENS, YOU KNOW?
  • I'll make a proper tea for YT- strong brew, kept hot in a pot. Dash of milk and dash of sugar, not honey. Can be hippie organic sugar, but it's SUGAR.

Not very sweet cookie, like a shortbread, or even a just a piece of toast. Since we're hippies, some nice fruit. Chats, second cups, clinking of little spoons, smoothly coasting into the afternoon!
  • Today for a snack I bought "Greens+ Omega3 CHIA Energy Bar Natural" and my boss bought a cookie.

His tasted better, but I look better naked.
  • Mike you are a fitness nazi.

Are you going to start judging everyone for not being as hot as you?????

I might have to not be friends, 'cause I ain't fit for shit. I had sushi for lunch, but just now a payday bar. DEAL WIT IT!
  • Some day I want to go to "high tea" with the tower of snacks.
  • I won't start judging my friends after I'm done judging myself, so you likely have nothing to worry about. But it would help if next time you see me you say politely, "Hey, have you gained a little weight?" Then I'll be more motivated at the gym. Thanks.

What are you going to do when we get BAGELS tomorrow? Lox, hold the chew?

"Could I get a lox bagel... Protein Style? It's capers wrapped in lox, wrapped in lettuce."
  • They don't have salads there?!
  • (also, i'm just (mostly) kidding you guys! i had an epic bacon cheeseburger for lunch with alex and Yours Truly)
  • edited June 2012
have you even SEEN your boss naked?
  • honey/lemon can be good in certain kinds of black tea, i think, just not ENGLISH BREAKFAST STYLE BLACK TEA.
  • I have not. But I have to assume I look better or why the fuck am I eating this nasty Chia shit instead of a cookie!?!?
  • I am out of shape due to my ongoing leg bone problems. Still I feel okay naked. I'd rather be naked than in a swimsuit that's for sure

    i ate two donuts
  • Agreed, I always look pretty dumb in a swimsuit, but I think I look OK naked.
  • everybody looks ok naked! Because it is God's way of all creatures.
Swimsuit is like :here, please examine the weirdest parts of my body in super close-up and all squeezed
  • I've never had such strong feelings about bathing suits.
  • maybe it's more of a lady thing? because dudes get to wear such long shorts

think about it: our swimsuits are straight-up underwear
  • I feel a little weird about what I said. It kind of came off like I'm a dude I don't worry about such trivialities.

I was thinking after Marc Z. chimed in about how I've never really worried about my swimsuit bod more than my naked bod or just my bod insecurities in general (clothed or not). Like the swimsuit wasn't the focus, just more generally.

    So don't think I'm a dick.
  • I would definitely feel even weirder if I had to deal with the lady side of swimsuits. Andy has a few that are like one piece with a bottom that is more of a boyshort cut. Seems like a good way to go, cause it does seem dumb that there is an expectation for ladies to basically be in their underwear.
  • i don't think you're a dick Matthew! I don't even know what you're talking about!!! No dicks here, except the dicks in that mean photo
