Whiskey Shit Yes

With ten songs and a time total of 30:31, this is by far my most rock and roll mix to date. This one’s about a room warmed by body heat, hanging out in your shower until the water heater kicks, watching an unnecessary fist fight, fire-place ash in your hair, and hot toddies. We’ve still got four more months of this crap.

Keep warm.

WHISKEY SHIT YES
1. Holy Shit – Written All Over Your Face
2. Ganglians – Violent Brave
3. Thee Oh Sees – Meat Step Lively
4. Caribou – Sandy
5. The XX – Intro
6. Ganglians – Never Mind
7. Atlas Sound – Doctor (Five Discs Cover)
8. Thee Oh Sees – Destroyed Fortress Reappears
9. The Mantles – Don’t Lie
10. Washed Out – New Theory

Peace Sweater Available Online!

The Peace Sweater project that I worked on with Ryo Chikushi Bordini, Stefan Sagmeister, Oded Ezer, Dainippon Type Organization, and many others is now available online.

In TAB’s words:

Typography meets fashion with this limited edition sweater with a simple message. Top designers from around the globe contributed the word Peace in their own language, woven together into a harmonious typographic pattern and then printed on a beautifully tailored organic cotton sweater. More than a fashion item, it is an environmental and uplifting statement for a brighter future.

Early 90’s Shredding

Stumbled across this great facebook photo album today showcasing a bit of the history behind Portland’s legendary Burnside Skatepark, beginning with construction in 1990 and ending in 93, all shot with disposable cameras. Special thanks to Kent Dahlgren for the photos and also to Brian Reynolds for the tip.

NEUTRAFACE

So this is amazing. Good friend/former Plazm worker Jason Kinney and the ever talented Mark Searcy has put together an amazing ode to a typeface. I have a small cameo in it. CHECK IT OUT HERE! If you are a design nerd, a lady gaga fan, or just someone who likes watching funny things, you will love this.

Anal Solvent video, live from the first Plazm Event, circa 1991

Anal Solvent, one of the great late 80s/early 90s experimental bands in Portland, performing here at Hand Prints. This was the first of a number of benefit shows that helped launch Plazm magazine. Trying to remember everyone who was on the bill. I believe this night was also Pond’s first show. Drunk at Abi’s played for sure too. And Hitting Birth? It is a blur. I know it was 1991 not ’92 because the first issue of Plazm hadn’t been printed yet. Below is also a photo of the first Plazm t-shirt. Design by Rob Bardel. There was some debate about if we were going to be “Plasm” or “Plazm”…
