First of all, fuck yeah!
I got a call on Friday from the principal of the school where I interviewed telling me that they want me to move on to the next interview, that I’m their FIRST CHOICE! for the position, that they are “in love with me,” they think I “have a good heart,” and am a “deep thinker.” They “love the way I use language.” WTF?? Since when do hiring committees consider candidates’ hearts when judging their merit? It’s so awesome. I have my next interview on Tuesday morning. It’s with the assistant superintendent, and I’m feeling pretty confident. The principal told me that she was sure I’d do well because the two of them always like the same candidates. And she coached me on the kinds of questions I should expect. So, yeah. Wow.
Second of all, check out the nerd.blog entry Mike and I wrote about X-Men. It includes charts and graphs and was written in anticipation of X-3, which we watched at 5pm on opening day. Has anyone else seen it yet? I’m normally not turned on by battle scenes, but man. I can’t stop chattering about the two major X-3 battles. They were so cool! We got to see so many rad powers put to use! Kitty Pride? Such a bad ass! Storm?? Oh man. She tore it up. There were some definite flaws in the storyline, and people will surely argue about the forgivability of these. But I was just pumped to see Angel bust through that harness and fly out the window. Anyway. I started a spoilers thread on UHX. Hit me up there if you want to talk nitty gritty.
Finally, for those of you in Portland, I helped organize a Urban Honking Company Picnic. It’s this afternoon at Peninsula Park. There will be softball, BBQ, and cool dudes. Stop by! If it’s raining we will go to the Less Distracted space instead to play cards and games. And drink beer.
There are other major occurrences amiss that I am not yet at liberty to discuss in a public forum. Suffice to say it involves a boy and all the accompanying complications. Happy Memorial Day.

so in true denver nerd-out fashion about 15 of us went to see x3 at 11:59 on thursday night on the giant screen at the continental. also in true denver fashion the hype was outstanding. however the nerds came out and the disappointment was quite apparent. i had a fantasic time laughing at the oh so shitty writting and dumb sub-plots (kitty and bobby, WTF.) but in the end everyone just seemed a little heart broken that the third movie was so bad. i guess people’s feeling about movies depend greatly on their company.
Yeah, I’ll agree with that last statement. I remember watching Batman Forever during the last week of school back in high school. I went with about half a dozen of my nerdiest friends, and we had a blast. I thought it was the greatest movie ever. Then I bought the DVD and watched it by myself years later. It was only then that I realized how utterly crappy it really was. It comes in second, only to Batman and Robin, in the amount of time, money, and talent wasted in pursuit of creating a good comic book movie.
BTW, no, I haven’t seen X3 yet…and yes, I know that all the cool kids already have.
congrats! sounds like things are working out after all!
What was up with Kitty Pryde all of a sudden being on the team? She came in from no where. And where did Nightcrawler go? And why didn’t they give Jean Grey the cure, or walk the boy up to her? And why was Storm’s haircut so shitty?
Also, I totally loved it.
