We had quite a response to the LIVE DEEP post, so I wanted to quickly post a follow up concerning the subject of many of the emails we are getting.
THE MULTIPLIER
You can “double-down” (or even triple, quadruple, etc.) in some circumstances with RTSN, finding that more than one of your deeper passions overlaps with someone you are looking to do business with. We call this THE MULTIPLIER because it’s not just simple addition, but a multiplication of the effect of overlapping social groups. Remember, your passion doesn’t count for shit unless you are actively engaged in it. That means you are online researching it, emailing people about it, blogging about it, following people on Twitter who know more about it, and steeped in the culture of it in real time.
WARNING: This is not, “Oh, I read about that on Wikipedia.” This is, “I rewrote the wikipedia article, because it sucked.”
The point of RTSN is that you accidently find the opportunities within the networks you are operating in. Maybe that person working on the photo lab is just the person you need to finish the big project. Maybe the lady at the scrapbooking show is looking for your services. Maybe the kennel master who also has an appenzeller sennenhund is looking for a partner in his new doggie daycare franchise operation. None of these people has to look in the phone book because they personally know YOU. That’s the point. Get out there, meet people, and then work on things with them!
THE MULTIPLIER is not something that can be planned. But every once in while you’ll find that the bank officer that can approve that loan just happens to be an amatuer photographer who loves scrapbooking and breeds appenzeller sennenhunds. In those rare cases, you have THE MULTIPLIER, where so many of your interests overlap that you create an instant and very strong bond. But this can only happen if you are pursuing your love of scrapbooking, photography and appenzeller sennenhunds!
