This is a real thing that happens.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilblains(some "gross" pix if you're not into gnarly looking toes)
I didn't get them until I moved out here.
Do you suffer from chilblains in your fingers or toes sometimes?
Last year, I had it in my hands real bad. Debilitating.
I've got the tingling in my toes right now and it's driving me insane.
How do you keep those digits toasty?
Wool socks ain't cutting it!

I'm reading about chillblains now (paranoia) and I just read that you should warm them up gradually and not apply crazy heat. FYI.
So, no, never had them before.
Now I have two new things to worry about:
The reality of the chillblains, and whatever monstrous foot diseases KmikeyM is cooking up in his sci-fi socks.
Thanks a lot UHX.
Maintaining a consistent temp, even more important.
UFO socks seem hazardous.
This seems about right:
I too thought chillblains were something people got in 18th century novels
like gout
which I also recently learned people still get
people who eat like shit
chillblains sound awful! Do you do good thick socks AND shoes? Maybe wrapping that shit up to the max from the first moment of the day is the answer?
Old timey wash bucket with warm water from the tea kettle
I think gout comes from these crystals forming in your blood that then jam up in your veins. Did I make that up? But anyway I think you would be way more incapacitated if it were gout........I could be wrong.
I actually don't think it's necessarily about what you eat (I was making a medieval king joke), although a super high-meat high-fat diet I think caused it a lot in medieval kings??
Everything I just typed is completely just vague shit I dredged up out of my mind and is probably inaccurate
I also know of a Reedie who got scurvy due to an all-pizza diet.
Eat all your colors, to avoid old-tymey diseases!
(this will not prevent the new resistant-to-all-antibiotics tuberculosis, alas).
My fingers and toes go totally white/blue in the cold, and then when they warm up get really red and itchy and tingly. I have poor circulation & low blood pressure, and now I've got to worry about CHILLBLAINS. Great.
