What would you call something designed to hold a book open? Not a huge big book stand, but like a metal clip or the like, intended to grasp both sides of a book in order to hold the book OPEN. Like a classy little gee-gaw you could stick in your bag and then whip out if you, say, had a hard-bound notebook you needed to type from, or something. I picture some sort of smallish, portable, metal, paperclip-style mechanism (rather than, you know, one of those big velvet sand-filled ropes you get at archives, to hold ancient texts open without soiling them).
not a bookmark, thus (or not JUST a bookmark)
?
Do you think this thing exists? If so, what would it be called?
Etsy searches that have revealed nothing:
- book clip
- book holder
- "hold book open"
- pages holder / page holder (just gets you bookmarks)
- thick book clip
- money clip
- thick money clip
?
any ideas?
perhaps it's not a possible invention, since in order to hold the book open it would have to have a certain degree of tension, and since books all vary in size so much, probably such a thing could not be one size fits all??

Pink, for milady.
it's almost exactly what I was picturing in my little inventor's mind.
it's the only one that isn't also an elaborate stand-up stand!
