How is it legal to forbid him from making money on his story? That part seems like bullshit. Maybe he can start a company that can make money on his story, since a company is a person it won't him making the money.

If you can forbid HIM from making money on it, why not forbid ANYONE from making money on it?

If you don't prohibit people from making money off their crimes it encourages people to commit spectacular crimes to then be able to sell the rights for books, movies, etc.
