Technical Help Please: Setting Up a Domain

So I'm trying to help some friends get a website up and I realize I have no idea what I'm doing.

They registered a URL with GoDaddy, and I tried to transfer it to our DreamHost account. But according to ICANN rules you can't transfer a domain for 60 days after purchasing. (DUMB!)

But can I still set up the hosting on DreamHost and just have the registration be w/ GoDaddy?

    Yeah, you just need to set up the DNS at the domain registration (godaddy) to point to Dreamhost's DNS servers. ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com, etc.

    You can register through Dreamhost too. Eliminate a step. Fuck GoDaddy.
