Where Should I Get A Haircut Today?

edited August 2011
I have already gotten some cool suggestions from buddies but I wanted to cover all my bases and crowd source that shit.

Should I just go to Bishops/Rudys?

Which?

Where else? RCH gave me a recommend I can't remember now, what was it?

My deal:
- under $40
- not a total hack job

?

  • Rudy's in the Pearl, ask for Mike!

You have to call early sometimes to get on his list, but he is very funny and nice and definitely will not do a hack job.

NOt expensive and a wonderful man!
  • Galen's cuts are $50 at the Proper Salon. Maybe less for short hair?
  • Scissors/beard trimmer x bathroom collabo
  • The haircutting cart on ne 28th between Burnside & Ankeny gives good results.
  • The only place you should go is to Ryann Bosetti. Rudy's!? COME ON!

    Call or email her here:
    http://www.ryannbosetti.com/contact/

    Support URHO'rs and their businesses!
  • BOSETTI is a no duh, of course highly recommended!

    "Magic Scissors"

For a same-day haircut though, odds are slim to none. Just givin' the options a lady asked for!
  • PS- Mike Spencer is no ordinary barber, though he may work at Rudy's now. Used to have his own single-chair salon, wears long Willie Nelson braids, cares for elderly toy poodles, and a gentleman through and through!

Ryann, Galen, and Mike have all been my go-to dudes and they all RULE!
  • I feel like I can't just email Ryann for a haircut, I literally just met her 2 days ago!
    Don't want to be a j-hole!!!!!
"Hey nice to meet you WILL YOU CUT OFF MY HAIR TODAY"
  • She totally would, though- she is awesome and has heard of how wonderfully we all esteem you <3
  • Also, when I need an appt with her, I email to set it up. I think that is her preferred way.
  • Truly, she does not check voicemails ever. Text or email only!
  • I recently went to UrHo friend Julia A. at Tiger Tiger on Alberta and received a truly wonderful haircut. I made my appointment online for the very next day! Julia! Great cuts!
  • Come to my house, I'll cut your hair for free.
    Just did Fudge's hair today.
I am secretly pretty good at cutting hair.
  • Your hair always looks amazing!
  • I'm not sure that Fudge is any good if it has hair on it...
  • I wouldn't eat it.
  • Well....then again...I might.
  • Julia A. has also cut my hair twice and she did a great job! I recommend both Ryann B. and Julia A. for nice cutz and good chatz.
  • To RCH: Who? Zombie, or me?
I have been doing my own hair since I was a punk teen.
You just have to go for it and then be ok when it looks a little weird. But one time I encouraged a friend to do the same and he gave himself a bald square on the side of his head.
It's a lot easier cutting other people's hair. Hand-eye coordination is tricky in front of a mirror. Also, I don't have two mirrors so I can't see the back of my head, I just "feel" for it.
  • I remember Khaela giving Ingeborg a really awesome haircut in our driveway one time at WTH.
  • I'm getting dreads again.
  • unfortch I must look like a professional lady these days, as my young charges would not enjoy learning about the old testament from some punk-ass looking grownup

    OR WOULD THEY?!???
  • I give normal "sissy" haircuts, too.
  • lol@steve eating the hairy fudge, like finding a tootsie roll in the couch cushions
  • joey your hair it always looks amazing

I used to cut my own hair but I am shooting for something a bit more polished these days. I ask my scissorist for something preppy and then I wear my leathers on the week ends.

The price is worth it. My scissorist is my Primary Care Provider.
  • Oh, why, thank you!
Compliments are nice. It is very sweet coming from you, you have such great style.
I don't pay people to do my hair because super even haircuts always make me sad. The last couple times I went to a salon I cried. I think I have a thing about people touching my head. But I understand making your scissorist your Primary Care Provider, I feel that way about my acupuncturist.
  • my scissorist gave me STRAIGHT BANGS
what do you guys think of that?
    I go back and forth

I agree Joey's hair is awesome, and RCH has great classy style

    TWO GREAT DAMES
  • I like joey's top bun.
  • joey's buns
  • rudys near w+k. mike.
