yoga retreat

edited June 2011
has anyone here done one of those yoga retreats?
I remember years ago somebody I knew did one that was in Oregon, and was weirdly cheap and/or free (??), and involved being totally silent all day long, and doing guided meditation and yoga, and eating 2 meals a day.

Anybody know anything about Oregon yoga retreats for hippies? Really any kind, I'm just fact-gathering. Found some shit on Google, would love some personal recs/info/thoughts.

  • Breitenbush is probably a great place to do that. Book far in advance.
  • Are you sure your friend's thing involved yoga, and not just meditation/silence/fasting? It sounds like a Vipassana retreat (they operate on donations, no fees).

Never done a yoga retreat in Oregon.

  • I'll second Breitenbush. Check with their office consistently for openings, I get last minute openings all the time there.
  • they do yoga retreats? I don't really see that. I just see renting a cabin and bumming around and maybe going to workshops.

Breitenbush is awesome. I would love to go there by myself for 2 days for a Christmas present HINT HINT

They have a big yoga room. I've definitely seen it going down there, but I was just there for the pools.

    Call em up and ask.
  • they have multiple daily yoga classes, starting pretty early each morning. not sure if it's posted online though... not sure if that counts as a retreat? but there's definitely yoga.
  • they also have a Crystal Table.
  • flossy is correct,
i believe you are remembering our friend Muffie talking about going on a retreat and it one of these non-yoga ones. just meditation/silence/fasting.
  • yes!
    ok this is helpful
    thanks fellas
  • For you and gary

  • I've seen people doing this in various los angeles parks!
    SO CRAZY!
is that a real thing even in like India or whatever?
I bet it feels awesome, those feet in your spine, truly hanging upside down etc. I bet your backbends would be crazy deep
    JESUS
The dude on the bottom is so strong!!! The way he spins her around and bends her?!

Surely you remember that Gary once dropped me on my head while "wearing me like a backpack," and I compacted some vertebrae in my spine and will never be the same again. I don't think Gary and I will be doing this acro-yoga anytime soon.
