Memorial Day

edited May 2014
What are people doing?

Just drank coffee, then juice, then beer, and now coffee. Weird day.

Hanging out, not doing anything. Pretty cool.

  • also having a weird day. Went to band practice at noon, sat around for 1.5 hours waiting for Mike, then while Mike and Katy tried to set up a mic, then finally no one could remember why were setting up a mic. We played four songs then went out to Lebanese food at 3:00 p.m. then drove around listening to Spinal Tap songs
  • Pretty cool solo day with the kid — World Forestry Center (great logging machine simulator!), giant chess downtown, pinball at Ground Kontrol, and lounging outside in this surprisingly nice weather.
  • These things they use for logging are amazing — it's basically a big tractor with a long robot arm and a funny-looking attachment. You manipulate it to grasp your victim tree near the base, and then slice through it right there on the spot while still in your clutches. One end falls to the forest floor, but you push a button that sucks it back through the apparatus at the end of your robot arm, and it's immediately stripped of all limbs. You then toss it over your shoulder and move on to the next.

So, yeah, if want to try that for yourself, get down there. It's basically an awesome video game for raping the environment.
  • holy shit
  • Hm, what did we do? We had breakfast at home, then lunch at Whole Foods buffet (my fave). Then eventually we picked a nearby walk from the Metro walks guide and went over to Fort Vancouver to wander around. Ended up walking by a waterfront Mexican restaurant, so we had a couple margaritas. Came back home, realized I left my credit card at the restaurant, went back and got it. Then had Coronas with lime in the hot tub. First daytime hot tub sesh. Then watched The Bachelorette.

Also this weekend I spent a lot of time reading that crazy killer guy's "manifesto." It's kind of riveting and is like Tao Lin + Catcher In The Rye + The Unabomber. Not even going to open that can of worms right now, but I was aware of how odd it was to spend "holiday weekend" time on that.
  • I am so jealous of your hot tub I could spit
  • Get a soak in before you take off. It's no hassle to us.
  • I'LL BE THERE IN 2 MINUTES
