Has anyone done this? Good/bad experiences?
I went to the float place on Hawthorne last night for the first time and had the WEIRDEST time. It was comfy and relaxing at first, then it started getting interesting with some minor hallucination, then I was asleep with absolutely no transition; just slipped into the deepest, darkest, no dream type of sleep. I was supposed to wake to some presumably mellow music, but instead woke 90 minutes later to the sound/motion of the tank's pump filtering the water, which created an intense whirlpool. I panicked, not knowing where I was as I spun around in the dark and inhaled a bunch of warm salt water, then, realizing where I was, flailed around looking for the door. Out of the tank I was so nauseous I thought I'd throw up, but managed to take a shower, dress and leave. I attempted to stop at Whole Foods to eat something, but was so nauseated that I just parked and sat with my head on the steering wheel for twenty minutes wondering how to get home. Got home, promptly threw up, then felt better.
Very weird time! I'm going again.

I think I could like it, but that particular experience and the general vibe at Float On turns me off. Lots of dreads, steam, bad lighting and weird stoner art. I wanted it to feel more legit I guess, like loyly.
They have tanks at Mudra Massage on Broadway where you can also get an ashiatsu massage (they destroy your back with their super strong feet!). That I definitely recommend. Also a much better version of the hippy vibe, for me anyhow. Like low lighting and tibetan singing bowls and water features.
