Sorry there's not more rap, I've just been listening to Flockaveli on repeat, which is from 2010 and therefore doesn't make the list.
  • Moon Hooch - Moon Hooch
  • OK, WHY NOT!~?!

Adam Green & Binki Shapiro - Adam Green & Binki Shapiro
Dam Funk & Steve Arrington - Higher
Pusha T - My Name Is My Name
    DJ Mustard - Ketchup
    The-Dream - IV Play
    Juicy J - Stay Trippy
Heidecker & Wood - Some Things Never Stay The Same
    Jib Kidder - IV
    Lake - Circular Doorway
Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels
    Ke$ha - Warrior
    Young Thug - 1017 Thug
    Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II
Fantastic Palace - Early Recordings/Hello The Mellow Man (reissue)

also, I really liked Justin T's 20/20 experience Volume 1 but Vol 2 sucked so hard I can't really include vol 1.
I liked the Nine Inch Nails album way more than I thought I would.
This new Snoop & Dam Funk record (7 Days of Funk) will definitely be a favorite (it just came out this week)
Kanye's "Bound 2" one of the best songs of the year.
  • Dawn of Midi made me excited about music in a way I have not felt in a really long time: Still can't wrap my head around their crazy rhythms.
  • I gotta say though, "NEW" music was such a low percent of my listening this year.
    like 15% id say
  • Me too. Didn't listen to a ton of new stuff. That Pusha T is good! Gonna check out some of the other stuff on yr list, haven't heard most of it!
  • I just listen to radio hits, y'allllllllllllllllll. And that Burial and Machinedrum. And that Lapalux album.
  • you guys I STILL HAVE NEVER listened to Yeezus

!!! I am starting to feel actually crazy, what is wrong with me
  • Mdou Moctar - Afelan
  • I have a lot of catching up to do!

I listened to Bombino a lot this year but I haven't heard the record that actually came out this year.
The new Opaon EP is really amazing.
I bought the japanese edition of the Nick Krgovich album, I really like it.
New Yo La Tengo is great
    both Lake albums
    The new Lonely Forest record
    The Blow self-titled
Weird new DC band called Acme
Rjyan Kidwell - Prosperity = really good
I probably won't ever listen to Yeezus.

The best music I heard this year was this
  • edited December 2013
    Blouse - Imperium
    Mac Demarco - 2
    The Weeknd - Kiss Land
    Postiljonen - Skyer
    Washed Out - Paracosm
    Hookworms - Pearl Mystic
    Julianna Barwick - Nepenthe
    DIANA - Perpetual Surrender
    Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II
    White Fence - Cyclops Reap
    Sofia Reta - Woman
    Ty Segall - Sleeper

I mostly listen to to old music as well.
  • The best single of the year? Easy.

    Make It Happen

    Just $0.99.
  • Oh, also, the album "Woo" by Maximillion Dunbar is really good. Uncle Boat Dude, I could see you getting into it.
  • no one said daft punk
no one said kendrick lamar, tho i guess it came out late 2012

i listened to yeezus a whole bunch, and the kendrick a whole bunch. listened to the daft a whole bunch but it had no staying power. same with yeezus. however dense and complex after i memorized them, i sorta stopped listening. that kendrick record had more emotional personal depth, plus that dre executive production

i skipped the drake and pusha t records
i just still cant feel drake at all and found his songs and antics annoying, and pusha record i wanted to be more weird like the one track numbers on the board or whatever

no one mentions e40, who seems to be having a hot year
i fuck with this song, which seems very post-#based

also that young thug picachu song was funny

  • this was pharrel's come back year, but this shit he made with busta is just fucking BAD

this was my favorite Lil B song/video this year:
  • Drake looks like he smells like the diaper aisle at the grocery store.
  • My claim to fame is uploading the first version of that Young Thug song to YouTube! THATS MY CHANNEL, BABY!
  • If I worked at Instagram, I would definitely have a playlist of all the rap songs that mention Instagram.
  • 'Yoncé
  • @ALAN_FROGTOR Agreed about Daft Punk. Very brief.

I am somewhat into newer Danny Brown from 2013, and the Childish Gambino album is pretty good.

    But 2013 faves:
    Pusha
    Yeezus
    Pre-Human Ideas
  • I think 2013 was the year I finally got into pop music. TSwift et all. Why did I resist for so long? Amongst the garbage is cool garbage, and actual cool songs.
  • OH AND: Earl Sweatshirt - Doris

That's what happened to me a few years back, owls. I started listening to pop radio in the car and was like "I think I actually like this music more than the 40gb of obscure indie and electronic music in my iTunes." It felt like a return to my roots, before I turned 13 and started seeking out music no one else knew about.
  • oh shit @uncleboatshoes2011 !!!! thats your channel!!!!!
  • That Metallica performance at the end sounded like one of those YouTube videos where they replace the audio with someone playing really badly.

I'm really looking forward to the Grammys this year!

I love music and the Grammys are the way that people who know music the best award the best in music!

Does anybody know when the Grammys are on?
  • The Metallica was bad!

    I enjoyed watching Carole King.
