The snow is white and fluffy, it is pretty
nonetheless, I am feeling a bit concerned w/r/t my drive home this afternoon, and even the possibility of getting out of the parking lot. I parked in the upper lot just in case but still
what does one do if one is stranded on campus? Walk to barbur and hitchhike
WTF
Comments
I have to make it until like 2:30 or 3:00!
What do YOU think the chances of getting stranded are? Like 95%?
It's weird you would think about hitchhiking before taking the Pio Express or a bus.
Other options: take off all clothes lay down and die
chances of getting stranded are basically 100% at this point
1. Walking (with big ol' waterproof boots and Yak Trax). You are totally in control of your destiny, and staying warm in the cold weather. Not so good for icy conditions. Very slow.
2. Bus. I always trust a big heavy bus with a professionally-trained driver not to get in a crash. And TriMet tries really hard to anticipate weather events and respond properly. BUT often drivers are freaking out and crashing, and buses have to go back to the garage for chaining and stuff gets behind, so this is actually way less reliable than #1. I have literally waited in the snow on MLK for the #6 for two hours in the snow before.
3. Biking. I really don't like any risk of slipping around. I know this makes me a "baby," and I know a lot of people who think it's fun, but I just don't dig it. Also, I bike up the Mississippi hill every day...
4. Driving. Even if I had a car, you don't want me driving in the snow, I don't want me driving in the snow, nobody wants me driving in the snow. For reals, yo.
I'm scared after reading these stories!
How it sucks up the sound and everything is so quiet... it as to sound as velvet is to light
I don't mind the snow walking. But I get why snow is intense/difficult. I grew up in snow and am pretty comfortable in it, all things considered, I prefer snow to heat. But I get why others would not. My brother as a child famously said in a great fury "the snow is cold and dummy" and we still say this 30 years later and I will say it forever. From the mouths of babes!
He is a nice man
He is a really nice man. Would not hurt a fly, that one.
He'll be here in a couple days! Maybe you can see him again!!
(I hope it gets funnier and not creepier each time I remark on your brother's good looks. He is very good looking.)
and ladies he's single
just saying
how heteronormative!?!?!
imagine if every time you had to poop you had to go outside! Snoopy's life is hard
So glad I don't have to poo outside. Even though I love camping, I hate dumping outside more than just about anything. Indoor plumbing and toilets are the best thing about the modern era.
I mean, not just any outside-dump, I mean a specific nature mountain hike dump
In 8th grade I did Outward Bound and just really tapped into how awesome and peaceful and primal it can be. There was one great moment where I was taking a nice dump up on a mountainside, looking out over a beautiful valley, not a soul in sight, and I was super stoked
Also I grew up in a house that had no indoor plumbing like 65% of the time, so I got really used to going to the bathroom outside
I sound like a feral child, I just realized

I do not love this snow but it's fine
I am reading Malcolm X and answering confidential calls from the counseling service about students in crisis, also eating old bread
pretty cozy
the snow's gone now, huh?? COOL, I canceled my class's afternoon study session for naught! Who cares though
Portland averages 3 inches a year.
my hometown rules
I'm gonna elaborate on that update and share the joyful news that while driving around this AM it seemed like to only snowed north of Killingsworth. SE didn't received a flake. WEIRD!
micro climates!?
Possibly downtown is slightly warmer due to concentration of large buildings/traffic? Maybe proximity to the river has something to do with it? SE Portland is at a slightly lower elevation? We got a dusting at my place on Albina. I'm no scientist!
