Why can't I make pie crust?
I honestly bet I have made probably 30 pie crusts in my life, and NOT ONE has been any good whatsoever. I go slow, I read a recipe, I do everything right, and it always turns out this weird wet cardboard lump and my husband makes fun of it
I am a good cook and am starting to feel like this might drive me crazy

I do everything they say to do!!!!!
Also, though - what about store-bought pie crusts? It's amazing how good and cheap and easy they are! I never considered using one until last year and it changed the way I think about pie-making.
The recipe is gated on Cooks Illustrated, but you can find it all over the web. http://blogs.kcrw.com/goodfood/2013/08/recipe-cooks-illustrateds-vodka-pie-crust/
ZIN WITH THE GAME CHANGING SUGGESTION
VODKA: WHAT CAN'T IT DO???
It makes a very fine scrubby paste that won't tear at your skin, and the vodka has antiseptic qualities. Not for very sensitive or very dry faces, but anyone else can mash that around once a week or so.
Answer: taste good
(without being infused)
