OMG.... DO NOT STAY HERE! FULL OF THUGS AND NOT SAFE FOR FAMILIES! ONLY PLACE IN TOWN THAT NIGHT AND WE WOULDN'T STAY... .UN-CLEAN, BLOOD ON THE MICROWAVE, MYSTERY STAINS ON CARPET, DOOR HAD BEEN KICKED OPEN, SECOND FLOOR SCREEN MISSING,,, AVOID NO MATTER WHAT! WHEN WE COMPLAINED THEY TOLD US TOUGH LUCK... WE PAID AND LEFT ANYWAY!

    Actually about 20 decent band names there!

    Reminds me of my night in the San Juan Motel in Anacortes.

    The San Juan Motel is a weird place.
    I like to call it Meerkat Manor because usually when you go by there are a bunch of shirtless dudes standing around the perimeter railing... as if they were meerkats... on the lookout.

    I had a bad night there once worrying about catching a disease or vermin or a permanent stench but there was no better alternative that I could think of that night. I took pictures to document the neglect and abuse the furnishings and fixtures had endured. It was a lot of pictures. So many broken receptacle plates mounted at weird heights and angles. So many burn holes. A waxy texture over everything. Gallons of Raid and Febreze? The smell was like a month old carcass of a dog that had drowned in a pool of feces. Seriously.

    I guess that's why it was the last room in town.

    Pretty impressive, really.

    It has to be better now. It just does.

    I don't think it's any better. I avoid even walking by that place at ALL costs.

    Don't stay there! Give us a call, you can sleep on our couch.

    DrJ -- I had a dream that you sent Nick and I a very cryptic ransom note-looking letter and a betamax player. We couldn't figure out the clues! It was truly bizarre.

    I stayed at the San Juan Motel last time i was in town for the sake of convenience and privacy and it was totally delightful!

    I think they are under new management or something.

    My bad night was probably in 2002 (Whoa!) so anything is possible.
