I don't even want to talk about this but I'm going to because whatever. The sellers basically emailed me back this afternoon and said something akin to: "Hey, we've been thinking this over and it doesn't seem like such a great deal for us after all. We'll keep you posted."
To which I pretty much immediately replied, "Ok! Ok! I'm cool with the other offer! I recind my counter offer! Everything's okay, right?"
And their response, since 49 minutes ago has been: (silence)
Yet another house-buying tid bit: Get your house tested for meth! Who on earth knew this was a thing? I just happened to be talking with the husband of the colleague who hooked me up with my house (husband = worked on the house as a carpenter during the remodel) and he very nonchalantly told me my new lovely home used to be a "meth house." A little internet searching, and I now realize that meth (especially when it's cooked in the house) can contaminate absolutely every single surface and cause serious health issues. Jesus. First radon, now meth contamination? I'm lucky, because I already know the seller removed everything down to the studs, but even the FLOORS (which are original) could be contaminated!
Anyway, just beware you guys. This is (obviously) an especially big problem in Portland where meth is rampant.
I heard about this... States lobbying to require owners to disclose history if involving meth production. Kids, families get sick and they don't know why
I'm at work and my blood sugar just went straight to zero in about 2 seconds so I'm feeling all dizzy, which is what happens when I drink too much coffee and don't eat a big lunch. But of course my brain immediately thinks: IT'S THE METH! I've slept in the house exactly one night and I'm already feeling the effects!
