take this crazy political test

edited November 2012
I found this pretty fascinating. My result is funny: as far lower-left-corner as you can go. Hard-left anarchist. My lived life doesn't totally reflect that but I guess it's true that that's my intellectual standpoint on things.

I like all the explanations and definitions they give.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I can't remember!

  • I am not sure this test accurately reflects my positions. How am I so far away from Mitt Romney? Why am I in the hippie quadrant?

  • man, we are all so lower-left-corner! I love it

we are the opposite of Obama

    :(
    ?
    !
  • I scored just about the same as Matthew. I also love how we are all so lower-left-corner. LLC 4 LYFE
  • I'm exactly the same as Ed and Matthew. I particularly liked these statements:

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.

Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.
  • Ha ha!
I love thinking of the person furiously hitting STRONGLY AGREE on that last one

    FINALLY SOMEONE ESPOUSING MY BELIEFS
  • Lower left corner for me. -7, -7.6.
  • SHAUN!!!!!!!
  • Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all.

This one is cool considering the CIA's support of abstract expressionists
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/modern-art-was-cia-weapon-1578808.html

"Why did the CIA support [abstract expressionist artists]? Because in the propaganda war with the Soviet Union, this new artistic movement could be held up as proof of the creativity, the intellectual freedom, and the cultural power of the US. Russian art, strapped into the communist ideological straitjacket, could not compete."

Intuitively, it seems to me that another benefit of this mission would be to poison the well on America's opinion of the arts in general.

The whole time I was taking the test I was really afraid I would end up on the right, or hugging the line. Now I'm like, "what the fuck sort of answers are necessary to actually do that?" I guess drawing a hard line on the "rape and gay" material, huh?
  • Left and Right relate to economics, so you would need to answer every money question in favor of the rich/corporations, I think.

And be pro-spanking (spanking reinforces the profit drive)
  • If I had been spanked as a child I suppose I would have become a character from a Bret Easton Ellis novel.
  • If Marcus had been spanked as a child, I think he would have been spanked with a collapsed one of these:

    image

One time my mom hit me with a spoon and broke the spoon and then I don't think she ever spanked me again.
  • Economic Left/Right: -5.00
    Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.59

About two dots to the left of Kmikey. Works for me!

Not feeling too many 'stronglys' today.

I believe a quick spank is justified for dissuading dangerous behavior in toddlers.

"Never run in the street!" etc.

Also if they threaten to make non-representational art.

    Obvs'...

    well, there I am.
  • This is fun, but whoever put it together and mapped out candidates supposed positions is crazy.
  • I had the same reaction.
  • I don't understand... why Hillary Clinton isn't the Secretary of State??
  • Is she not?
  • Oh, I guess it isn't official yet, but supposedly she is stepping down in January. I'm surprised there isn't more news about it...
  • It's cause she is prepping to run for prez!
  • NEXT ROUND

    Prediction:

Unless Barack is assassinated, Hillary will be the next president.

    (** of 5, btw)

    Who wants to bet?
  • would be rad if two-term First Black Prez was followed by two-term First Lady Prez. Would be so rad! Social Sea Change, man, for real

  • what if lady was only one term?
  • still seems like one term would be social sea change.
  • What if our next President is two atheist lesbians?

Uncle Boats: Agreed, just wanted to aim for the bleachers in my fantasy

What if our next President is two atheist BLACK JEWISH lesbians IN WHEELCHAIRS who are BLIND and in PUNK BANDS also they weren't born in america

YOU GUYS! WHAT IF JON HUNTSMAN GETS TO BE SEC. OF STATE!?!?!?!?!????!!!!

    Generation-H For Life!
  • I like him

great example of what a conservative could actually be and how productive that dialogue would then become between "liberal" and "conservative"

    HUNTSDUDE
  • It won't be Hilary.
I will bet Dr J. One Dozen Donuts.
  • Who will it be?
  • You are ON, K-Dawg. See you in 2016!
  • I'd really rather see an ideological sea change than a social sea change.
  • good point, me too. Rather have a straight white dude who actually fixes global warming than a lady or a non-white person who doesn't

    PRIORS
    That's short for "priorities"
  • Maybe if Huntsman had a sex change? Double-duty.
  • I want it all.
  • "fixes global warming"?

i think this would involve the invention of a time machine

    therefore GIVE ME SOCIAL CHANGE
  • fair enough
although a president who invented a time machine would be PRETTY COOL

What about fix in the sense of to make immovable. In other words, to stop adding to the problem. This verbiage gets the go-ahead in my book.
  • @DrJ I'll take some of that Hillary action. How much you willing to bet?

  • @Mikey: Dinner some place nice?
