  • I let my cats deal with it. They’re the best pest control: http://instagram.com/p/PkDQx_vi5i/
  • good call

remember that part in "Blue" when Juliette Binoche discovers a mother rat suckling a million baby rats in that room in her apartment and so then she goes and borrows a neighbor's cat and just throws it into the room and slams the door and runs away?

that made a big impression on me
  • One thing I like about Oregon is, no bugs, cuz so many spiders!
  • Remember like 2 years ago when there was lots more spiders than usual? Was that a climate change thing? I think it was the same winter where spring came really early and all the flowers bloomed and then winter came back and everything died.
  • When bird populations decline, spiders increase. A good reason to keep kitty inside. LESS SPIDERS!

Jesus, I couldn't rest until I found that story:

    The Sportsman and the Squirrel

A SPORTSMAN who had wounded a Squirrel, which was making desperate
efforts to drag itself away, ran after it with a stick, exclaiming:
"Poor thing! I will put it out of its misery."
At that moment the Squirrel stopped from exhaustion, and looking
    up at its enemy, said:
"I don't venture to doubt the sincerity of your compassion, though
it comes rather late, but you seem to lack the faculty of
observation. Do you not perceive by my actions that the dearest
wish of my heart is to continue in my misery?"
At this exposure of his hypocrisy, the Sportsman was so overcome
with shame and remorse that he would not strike the Squirrel, but
pointing it out to his dog, walked thoughtfully away.
  • I love Ambrose Bierce! From The Devil's Dictionary, c. 190x:
FAITH, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.
POLITICS, n. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.
TRUTH, n. An ingenious compound of desirability and appearance. Discovery of truth is the sole purpose of philosophy, which is the most ancient occupation of the human mind and has a fair prospect of existing with increasing activity to the end of time.
  • that devil's dictionary is such a delight. I have it bookmarked and periodically flip to it in times of duress
  • but was that poet a fox? how does he know?
  • I would guess it is some cutting metaphor about how people choose to suffer
  • I felt like he got another shot. He wasn't sitting there crying. He was on his way... somewhere.

It was pretty intense. I'm glad you guys were here. My feral audience....
  • Just read Sportsman/Squirrel. Exactly. Wow.

I used to bill myself as Audio Portraitist & Sportsman.... I'll take it.
  • Running across town today, VbStoPe-town that is!

Is time running backward? Seems like alien summer....
  • Went to the new cart pod close to my house. Looks like it's going to be a really big one. Stoked to see it fill up with good stuff.

  • Pursuing practical market opportunities.

[Not pricing remote-controlled octokopter aerial camera mounting kits.]
  • omg I want one of those, DR J. I got hooked on them from watching youtube vids................................. neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed. How much they $?

I think you build a really good one from a kit, capable of carrying a 10lb payload, for about $1500. Top of the line RC controller looks to be about $400.

On the other hand, people say, and they are probably right, that you would never want to start by trying to fly a $1000 octokopter without working your way up from like a $150 quad. So.....

And you can totally take pictures and snoop on people with a cheap quad and a 2.45ghz controller.

[I don't know how this information came to me. IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT FROM "WASTING TIME" ON THE INTERNET! How dare you accuse me of that! Silently. With your eyes.]
