Dansko Clogs

edited October 2012
I'm in the market for some of those ubiquitous Dansko clogs that are supposed to be good for your bones if you stand around a lot. I don't care what color or how they look. I see them constantly but they are always $30. If you ever see a size 37 or 38 for more like $20 tell me! Or if you have a pair in the back of your closet (come on, I know you do), I will buy them from you or bring you a pizza for them

thanks

I had a pair for forever, everybody did! Where did they go????? They're so ugly but also awesome. I want them for cooking and housework. My bodywork shaman told me to get a pair. I am too cheap to spend $30 on something I'm just going to wear when I make spaghetti sauce

Comments

  • Put a value on your time tho. If you spend hours looking for these clogs for $10 less than full price, you are losing money.
  • this is true, and a good point

not your point, alan, i'd rather die

    (not literally)
  • Why would you rather die?
You already said you think the clogs are ugly?

I own crocs! Didn't want them, was forced to own them, now glad i do, they come in handy!

I was joking, doing a joke about the popular hatred of crocs!
I think crocs are just fine.
I guess I am specifically going Dansko just because that's what my shaman told me to do, and I want to follow her instructions to a T. Maybe I could research actually and find out if Crocs are as good for your skeleton as Dansko...if so then I am in business because I think Crocs are easier to get!

    CLOG CITY

Do they make your body feel good boats?

I would wear crocs because I love Mario.... Orange of course!

  • I don't really know if they make a body feel good. I doubt they are as good as clogs.
    I just like defending crocs.

Quit referring to peoples real names, @YoursTruly! You don't like it, why do you think others want to be referred by their slavenames?

    I'm sorry!
I don't know who is cool with it and who isn't!
I won't do it ever again

    i changed it
  • The dansko clog is a specific good shoe for the body- can't be replaced with a croc, for sure, or for a cheaper clog!

If you look down, all serious waiters/waitresses wear these things. The best for standing.

I have also been commanded by this bodyworker to get some, and I don't want to! My vanity won't allow it. Instead I'm going to try some really fancy insoles she recommended I buy at REI...
  • All doctors, nurses, and med students in clogs too
  • since being instructed to wear them I have started kind of thinking they look cool
    maybe self defense mechanism
but for example Julia wears them when she cuts hair and I think they look pretty rad
I am going to rock them
    I don't give a fuck
I wear sunglasses that go over my regular glasses; not like I'm tearing up the fashion world here to begin with, jeez
  • I got a cheap pair of RayBan clone prescription sunglasses at http://39dollarglasses.com/

I got tired of looking like a goon in all summer photos of me.
  • once you go prescription sunglasses you immediately open the door for losing/sitting on one or both pairs of glasses
and I don't like the switching. My glasses are part of my face, like a bone extrusion, thank you very much

I thought UHX was all croc rockers and clog bloggers. That's what I always tell people when anybody asks.
  • I recently thrifted some Dansko @ value village. The tag was still on the bottom for Pete's sake. They rule. I've nearly worn them out. Some days I wear them without socks and they stink a little bit. I just put some oils in theme. Rosemary, etc. :)

    I also own some crocs.

  • omg Dr. J., literal LOL
  • Teachers also wear the clogs. What else can we do?! I have never found a pair for less than $40. Good luck!
  • A new pair of really high quality shoes that will heal your body seem like a bargain for $30. They will last for years and years. Just do it, YT!
  • god you guys are so right
i've seen SO many pairs for $29.99 and I've been like "I DON'T KNOW" (annoying whiny voice)
  • MZ's suggestion about putting a value on your time is so key. I've really struggled with indecision (and being a cheapskate) my whole life and I'm working hard on considering my time as a resource, just like money is a resource.

But then sometimes it backfires. I have been wanting a new laptop for about 4 years (my old lap top is basically not functional), but I keep hmmmming and hawing about what's the best deal and which one do I really want, etc. Last week I woke up and said, "You know what? Screw it. I'm just going to buy one today." So I walked right into the apple store and the salesperson guy came up and I said, "I want that one. I don't want anything else. How do I pay you?" So within ten minutes I had a new laptop.

But then I got home and realized I was so jazzed about making the decision and getting the damn laptop, I forgot to use my student discount! Now I have to go back to the store and claim said discount.

Anyway, go for the $30 clogs! Just do it! Every day you don't do it is another day your body is NOT being supported by its ideal footwear!

  • I have done that exact same thing, with the laptop! Waiting so long that I just get furious and buy the first one I see, then realizing oh yeah, student discount, dumbass.

    DUMB!

Oh well, at least now you have a laptop.

My dad is really good at this "time is money" concept. My mom is horrible at it. My mom would rather lose WEEKS of her life to stress, hard work, and physical anguish, than spend any extra money on something. My dad is like, isn't it worth $100 to not have to do that, or whatever? The first time I really consciously thought of this was when I was pretty broke, living in Hollywood, and it was 1 a.m. and I was just leaving a show, and was looking at an hour long bus ride back to my house, and who knew when the bus would even come, and I had to get up at 7 and teach, I just felt horrible, and then a cab happened to drive up and I was like, oh my god, for $20 I can avoid ALL OF THAT and be in bed in like 10 mins and so I did it. I told my dad the next day and said "was it worth $20" and I was like HELL YES ARE YOU CRAZY

I think about it all the time now. We spend money on food and going to the movie, to have a fun time and make our bodies feel good...spending money to avoid trying tasks is the same!

ok I'm gonna go get some clogs

now I probably will never see another $30 pair in my life though

    :(
  • If that happens at least you know the Universe is working normally.

you guys you ain't going to believe what happened.
I literally read this thread and then was like "I'm an idiot! I'm gonna go back to Goodwill and get those clogs I tried on RIGHT NOW"
They were $30 and they fit perfectly.
So I went. They were still there. As I was carrying them to the checkout, I saw that today Goodwill's 50% off tag color is red. I looked down and what do you think I seen: red tag!
    Got them for $15
    wearing them now
    they feel awesome.
    they're brand-new, not worn down at all! That's a $124 shoe
    damn
    you guys were right
but also if I hadn't agonized over it I would have paid $30 for them because when I went the other day and initially saw them the 50% off color was green

    ?????

    WHAT IS THE LESSON
  • lesson:
life is meaningless, enjoy the ride
  • You go girl!
    Now, get cloggin'.

  • I once bought pair of Sanita clogs from the Dutch Deli across the street from my house (the Wooden Shoe in Victoria, BC, I doubt it still exists, they sold cheese, deli meats and CLOGS). I needed a new pair of shoes and loved the idea of getting something really weird. That was before I even heard of Dansko.
The shoes gave me what I thought was a bit of a Popeye walk. Combined with my weird cartoon pants I wore every day it didn't look normal. I didn't blend in.
Anyway, by the time I had worn out my own clogs, Dansko and other brands seemed to be everywhere and in every colour. I went back to flatter shoes and I remember it feeling really weird.

My sister-in-law calls them "teacher shoes".
  • I like how heels are kind of cloggy for the past few seasons.
They have a high heel, but like a big old swoop shape. The heel is not chunky. It is a swoop shape. And I like it.
  • "Teacher shoes" will forever be Birkenstocks in my book.
  • now I am seeing Danskos everywhere. You guys, they look cool!!!!!!
