Changing the product

edited August 2012
Don't you hate it when you finally find the perfect product for your needs, and then they CHANGE IT, and it's RUINED!?

Twinlab NaPCA-----major bummer, went from being my natural, light moisturizer for years, to being all dumb chemicals and parabens-----as if Dave's Killer Bread switched to making wonder bread but used the same name
Prestige cosmetics-----had the best lipstick design ever, the bottom of tube was clear so you could see the color directly----they redesigned the damn tube and now you dont know what color it is

  • OK In other consumer news... I got an iPod touch! I had no idea that thing could do so much stuff! It's basically an old time PDA, iPhone minus phone. I'm not ready for a smart phone yet. I wanted it just for listening to audio and watching videos, but it turns out it has CALENDAR and REMINDER and even YOUTUBE, whatever that means! I still don't get it all the way... like, does it do regular wifi???
  • Yes, it does regular Wifi and you can use Skype on it to make phone calls (headphones with mic required). You should get on Instagram now.
  • YEAH, INSTAGRAM!

iPod Touches are really cool. Get all the fun apps and games!
  • My nephew watches SO MUCH Netflix on his iPod Touch.
  • You can also jailbreak them if you are a hacker person.
  • Can you get all the apps?? Whoa! I can watch Net Flips??? And Hulu???
  • Does jailbreak mean it turns into an iPhone???!!
  • You can get all the apps!

Jailbreak means you take all the apple/apple store restrictions away and then you can get the illegal apps and basically get all the apps for free and change the menus and customize the layout and basically fuck the whole the up.

    it's weird

    and cool

    but weird.
  • You mean stealing, right!!???
  • I'd have to get one of those tiny screw drivers, and make sure no magnets were nearby... that might be fun
  • What is an illegal app? How could an app be illegal??
  • Did you ever.... jail break
  • i jailbreak all my apple i-devices (iphone, ipod touch, ipad)
that way they can do a little more than apple planned...
but they all are wonderful tools right out of the box
i say get used to it, get in there, put yr email and twitter and facebook and instagram and etc etc etc on there, get some games, have some fun
    then
when you've bought a couple dud apps, and are perhaps ready to go "next level" on the device
then we jailbreak it, put some cool extra settings in there like SBSettings, get you installous so you can audit some apps (try b4 u buy)
get the dark web on there for you
gain access to the frequency scanner

  • i have not jailbroken my devices.

    i apple normative.
    :(

you have a new hand computer!

    Well I don't have it YET but I chose expedited shipping for $6. : - )

Thank you for the suggestion to hold off on advanced functions until I catch the learning curve a little bit, get used to it, let it take up a place in my life. Will I some day ask myself, How did I ever live without the iTunes Marketplace?

When I was a PC user I had this awesome thing called the Pocket PC. It had a touch screen and a little mini Windows environment. I used it diligently for years, mainly for hand writing notes, voice recording, and listening to music. Also playing free text adventure games.

I guess the thing about these toys is it really keeps you organized, like the difference between having a car and not having a car. Would you agree?

    Other useful things:

Flashlight (it makes a bright white screen so u can use it like a light, duh)
Flixster will pull up movie times at local theaters (if you have wifi)
    Tumblr app
    NPR/NY Times/BBC News apps
    Youtube!
Games: NY Times Crosswords, Bejeweled, Combine, Fruit Ninja
  • If you ride the same bus a lot I really like Arrival. Also, it has a dumb name, bir Dark Sky is good for knowing about the rain. Mitt's VP will let you know as soon as Romney picks someone! For To Do apps you should check out Clear, it's fun. And Josh showed me this fun game called OLO.
  • Instapaper. Facebook. iBooks — for pay books but also PDFs. Scramble with Friends. "Bike Maps" app for downloading free bike maps. Redfin/Zillow for pretending you're buying houses. Getaround/Zipcar/Car2Go for urban transportation. MailStop — take a picture of your junk mail and it will automatically send a request for the company to take you off their list. Postagram for sending cute picture postcards to people for cheap. Al Jazeera Live. NHK World TV Live.
  • Jailbreaking is kind of annoying. You can't update your phone's software until they update the Jailbreak, updating individual apps that you're trying out can be tricky. I wouldn't recommend it for most people.
  • yeah but L_T is a total hacker tho

I can phreak... as long as I have Cap'n Crunch's whistle
  • Is it true @K5M is on the shortlist for Mitt VP?
  • Guess what, LT?? Your special product arrived via FedEx just moments ago! Take a half day and come home and hack this shee!

oh my god you have no idea........When I ordered that thing I had a flash back to this time I bought a Gamecube and Animal Crossing and I skipped class to play. I was like I hope this isn't going to be like that time.
  • It won't because you can take this product to the office and play games under your desk like everyone else!
  • WHAT!!?!???
  • I love it, I hate it. It's real. It is a tool used By a fool
