ANACORTES UNKNOWN MUSIC SERIES vol. I - July 13th, 14th, 15th 2012.

Dear friends,
As mentioned in the "RANTS" thread, we are planning a new festival this July called the ANACORTES UNKNOWN MUSIC SERIES. We are aiming for a smaller/friendlier/cozier event this year. We'll see!

Our theme for the first edition is "What we've been up to".

Some of the people playing/performing are DYLAN CARLSON, GROUPER, KARL BLAU, MOUNT EERIE, LAKE, Ô PAON, LORI GOLDSTON, THOLLEM McDONAS, VANESSA RENWICK, D+, BRYAN. FRANK & BOB, BOUQUET, HUNGRY CLOUD DARKENING, SLEEPY LAGOON, MOTORBIKES, DENNIS DRISCOLL, LOVERS WITHOUT BORDERS, MIKEY GOING DOWN, TAKHOMA, CRAIG WEBSTER/ANDREW RITCHEY and URINE.

Again this year we will be having a small book fair, some authors will read and some movies will be shown. There will be a dinner on Saturday night. If you want to buy a pass, go to our website:

    Honestly, I still have no idea how this makes a difference. The "over-under" always just looks like the same motion to me, the only difference being the way the hand looks... like, you're still wrapping it the same, you're just holding your hand different.

    I know I'm wrong, but I just never "got it".

    Just heard that Turd Banjo is launching a counter-fest called the Anacortes Known Festival. It starts precisely at 12:05 PM at the NW corner of 8th and Commerical Friday, Saturday and Sunday. ALL the songs, song lengths and between song banter will be posted on the Turd Banjo myspace page by Wednesday night at 11:37PM. Before that time, ANYONE is welcome to leave a suggestion for the festival above the drinking fountain in the lobby of the Public Library. THIS FESTIVAL WILL HAVE NO SECRETS AND IS TOTALLY SERIOUS!!

    Hey. I have a teacher who is going up to this festival all by her lonesome. She is a rad lady named Nicole, and if anyone has room to give her a ride from Portland or some backyard space to camp up on there I bet she would super appreciate it because last I heard she is sorta winging it through craigslist and stuff. Also, you would get me some brownie points with my teacher! Which is cool. She does cool art stuffs and seems like she would be great company.     O, and here's a sweet Boltbus.com/Amtrak.com combo. Total cost one way $41 (prices may increase as they sell)

    Take 9:30AM Boltbus to SEA. Arr 11:45 AM $23 (wifi!)

    Stride two blocks west to board the Amtrak Coach (Bus) in front of the train station.

    DEP Seattle 12:20 PM - Arr. Mt Vernon (Skagit Station) 1:45PM $16

    If you don't have a buddy to meet you at Mt. Vernon (30 miles) you'll have to wait for the Skagit Transit #615 at 2:45 to take you to March Point for the Anacortes connector #410 that'll get you downtown at 3:53. ($2)

    Cool seeing UHXrs in the 'Cort.

    Fave moment might have been running into @Log_Gary and confirming that there is no more pleasant way to meet people than talking about yourself incessantly.

    Also: Lori Goldston set. & LAKE and other stuff. (I liked the set in the park from the indie-OGs, members of Gravel/Burl).
