I just downloaded it! Sounds amazing. Can't even figure out which genre to put it in! You know I have every song in my iTunes assigned to a different made-up genre? Usually I put Adam in Crystal Vibrations, Meditation, Slow Burners, or Electro Jams, but this shit is ALL OF THOSE AND MORE
Aw u guys is too nice to this guy also, did you know the video for Trick Shot premiered on AlJazeera Sports Network?:
also on another note: YT, i find it highly disturbing that you use the genre tab in your itunes i find it the most annoying thing in the history of recorded music (no disrespect to the brilliance of id3 tagging, audion, etc etc) but then im like "thats cool that you made your own genres and stick to them" but for me, musical boxes and categories, no matter how general i make them, tend to get all fudged unless you can put the same thing in multiple boxes
which takes me back to my abhorrence of iTunes genre function
which takes me into the subject of how much itunes needs an overhaul in general
its a shame they have let that thing get so out of hand. its the biggest music retailer in the world and also the program that most humans use to interact with recorded sound and it is the least over-hauled of all of apples shit. it has just been left to become this bloated rotten mess
wtf
fuck a half broken stream from the cloud thingy i will never use, give me the ability to tag things i already got with multiple keywords, genres, who played on what, etc etc. fucking buy discogs.org and have all this info available to me within the app do this for the itunes store too, make it a better surfing environment and less a narrow guided tour of the shittiest music known to man for elderly grandmothers who havent heard a song since the beatles and i would be happy seriously, it is the worst discovery tool for music available. genres are like rock, alternative, classical, jazz, pop, "black people music" and country, oh and "world" WORLD??? really???? also dance is a different genre than electronic? what does that even mean in 2012???? ohhh dance means like square dance? and i know as a person who has had to make this decision about my own shit - you (the label/artist) can only pick one genre of the itunes store to be in. its just the worst way to discover new music. in 2012 that is just unacceptable, even to the layman there are other, better ways to be reductive and filter things. just ask a library scientist. and there are countless better ways to have media files linked to further networks of information about the files.
also DONT GET ME STARTED ON NETFLIX'S NEW INTERFACE
god i hate all these filters
#forknerfilterrant officially over
but anyway yeah uh buy my album or whatever
i think the genre is "expert billiards/experimental post juke ambient hand clap and laser sunglasses"
I strongly agree with all your criticisms Alan. These feelings are what led me to take matters into my own hand re: tons of made-up genres. I feel like it has enabled me to actually listen to more of my massive amount of music. Playlists don't work because they are so limited and don't change. Genres are constantly changing. For me it has been a half-solution to an insurmountable problem, which is the general horribleness of iTunes.
It's true that even with my own genres it COMPLETELY SUCKS that you can't have multiple genres attached. I have thought about this a thousand times. It seems like it would be SO FUCKING EASY for Apple to do. One genre is so stupid. Also it often puts everything automatically into "Alternative," and every time this happens I think again about what a dumb term that is.
