Oh, and in the I still love Beyonce, I still love Obama dept: that policy about when force can be used in foreign countries in case of an "imminent threat" is totally not new to Obama; like it or hate it, it's been US govt policy since the early 1980s. The only new aspect is that the planes' pilots aren't necessarily riding in the planes. Neither the Obama administration nor the Bush administration before it has created a new doctrine or US interpretation of international law on this issue. Not that this will stop Glenn Greenwald from misleading people about it.
Isn't the current outcry more about assassinating US citizens without a trial than force in foreign countries?
Also how about Obama STOPS it rather than continuing the sketchy violent policies of his predecessors? That's mostly why I'm disappointed in this particular aspect of his administration.
I think is interesting that the track that B mimed to during the inauguration sounded like a live take. It had imperfections. I noticed this because I heard the performance on the radio and I was impressed with it.
I think it was a mistake for B to use the tape. Singers in that situation should be live.
Was it a non-story, no. But it was not a very important story. There are millionaires on America's streets right now doing much worse stuff.
