Host an Exchange Student

edited August 2012
Hi!

I am trying to find some homes for exchange students... we just got a two week extension on finding families and are scrambling hardcore to place over 100 students that still don't have homes for this upcoming school year. I have a 17 year old girl from S. Korea that loves cooking and board games, I would love to be the one to place her. Also have lots of Thai/Chinese/German students. If you can think of ANYONE who might be able to temporarily host them for up to 2 months, please send me a message. That would get their foot in the door and they could fly out. The agents are starting to freak out, many of these kids have already given up their spot in their own schools and would be in big trouble if they don't get into a school here (even if its a few weeks after school has started). Any leads would be super appreciated... sorry for the weird solicitation!

Thanks!
-James

yeah... there are drawbacks to having your email address be your full name ;)

Location does not matter, I get a small compensation for placing a student, and then another if I am the local coordinator for that student. Most of the compensations are just from each countries agent, because they are trying to get their own students placed. If i place 3 germans, i get a cuckoo clock!

If i placed a student in Portland, they would assign that student a coordinator in that area. So, i've been looking for families in my area only, however, now we are just desperate to find homes so i am posting far and wide. The families don't get any compensation, its a non-profit, and the families provide room/board. The students come with lots of spending money (more per month than i would spend in a year!), insurance, and family/student goes through orientations and stuff.

I would personally put together a huge 'thank you' package of goodies for anyone that helps me place a student.
  • where do you see email address??????
