Hello all!
Mike thought it might be a good idea to repost here... so here goes. :-)
Hello!
I'm in my early 30s and been running my own business for the past ten years. Given that all of my 20s was nearly focused on building a business, my ability to manage my personal life in a sensible way has been a bit chaotic at times. I find myself having problems remembering to pay bills on time, check my mailbox, ensure I have basic household necessities in stock (i run out of coffee creamer all the time, constantly wonder if I'm low on TP and paper towels, and shit, did I use the last onion when I made dinner last night?)
Yeah... I know... #firstworldproblems that we all have to concern ourselves with. However, I tend to like to go out a lot and am striving for good work/life balance... I think that I'm ready to temporarily concede defeat. Perhaps there is someone who can help me out with those things I neglect so often.
For example, I have a lot of personal projects that I'd like to work on and there are number of tasks that I could easily hand off to someone else to perform research on, coalesce information, and present it to me in a manner that allows me to act/decide on.
A few more examples...
I'm planning a few month trip to Europe and I find it hard to find enough time to research apartments to stay at on AirBnb. . . coordinate air/train tickets, etc. Also, since I'll be gone for a few months, I'm now thinking of letting people stay at my place via AirBnb, but would need someone to help with coordinating that, meeting people, showing them my condo, lending/collecting the keys, answering questions.
. . .or I'm going to a concert/show tonight, it'd be nice if they were printed out and ready for me next to the front door of my place.
I'd like to spend more time volunteering. . . but need to do some research/coordinate that, would be great if someone could help schedule those things for me. Ideally, I'd be able to decide, "yes, I'll be there on Sunday morning at 9am."
I'd like to be better about sending gifts/cards to friends for their birthdays. . . wish someone could help organize all that so it gets put in front of me a week before their birthday. . . I fill it out, put it in the envelope and someone could ensure it gets postage and mailed.
I need to find a house cleaner to come by 1-2x/month to do deep cleaning of the shower/floors. . . wish that I could find someone to research a small company/independent cleaner, meet them, coordinate that, etc.
I really need a dresser for my bedroom and have a specific type of style in mind, but really don't have time to keep browsing through Craigslist. Wish I had someone to keep an eye on things and let me know if they find something that they think I might like. (same goes for a new dining table). . .
I wish I had someone to go pick up groceries for me from time to time. Knowing a thing or two about vegetarian foods is a plus. . . :-)
. . .drop off my dry cleaning. . . picking it back up. . . I could go on and on. . .
Anyhow, I'm looking for a smart, savvy (especially on the internet side of things), organized, has a vehicle (drivers license at least. . . for picking/dropping stuff up/off from time to time), and person who can put up with my quirky/sarcastic/eccentric personality.
I'd imagine this sort of arrangement ranging from 3-8 hours/week.
If interested, please don't send a resume. Please introduce yourself in an email and sell me on why you think you'd be a good fit for this, and how much you'd need to charge for your time.
I'd like to find someone who can enforce some structure to this arrangement (I want access to someone more than 1/day week. . . being able to send a SMS, email, or phone call to toss an idea/request into the queue is going to be key. . . but I'm not expecting an immediate turn around on everything. Being able to manage my expectations is important). Proximity is probably important too. . . I live in NE Portland (near Alberta). Needing to coordinate with someone too far across town/out of town, isn't going to be as efficient for either of us,. . . unless you're amazing at what you do and convince me that it's not a concern! :-)
I look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Robby
