It's not a bad bar. The drinks, in the style of tiki*, are very sweet. But I got a Dark & Stormy and that is a great drink. Plus they have a rum selection, which is not something you usually see. I think the hangovers come from drinking there on the weekends.
*There is a statue triptych of a polynesian god eating a baby behind the bar. No joke. He eats a baby.
The owner of Thatch participated in the Laurelhurst neighborhood garage sales this summer; his home is full of Vespa art. I bought several records from him for $1 each.
He was also selling a wall-length photograph of a raw chicken breast display from an old grocery store for $700.
Getting trashed on umbrella drinks is a prerequisite to getting business done. Deals are easier to sign after umbrella drinks and it's too dim to read the fine print.
Thatch made me throw up once! It was me and one other dude, and one of those VOLCANO BOWLS, the worst idea. But we felt fun and giddy in that scary little hut in the back for about an hour, right before I puked. Lots of Tiki-Jazz, sometimes it feels too hot in there. My first URHO post, yay!

1: Just based on what seems to always happen after Thatch.

He is a Tiki god. Eating babies is his JOB!
