what if you wanted to fence off your yard, but
(a) your landlords won't pay for it and probably will get mad about it
(b) thus you want it to not be super permanent
(c) you want to do it on the mega-cheap
(d) you have no skills in this area
(e) you don't want to stress your neighbors out with something that looks just incredibly trashy though
?
any ideas

I built a 6' tall cedar fence with a gate along one side of Tbird's yard. I think it was about 36 feet long. Took about four full days (including design and shopping) and cost about $300 (materials only).
But that was a permanent fence (posts set in concrete) that was a visual block. A see-through fence would take fewer materials.
A fence is basically a curtain. You need something to hang it from.
Here's a used ranch fench that might get you most of the way there. $175.
Just pull the stakes out when you are done.

you can get something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/YARDGARD-4-ft-x-50-ft-14-Gauge-Welded-Wire-308302B/202024086#.Ua9-xI59n0c
and stake it down with something like these: http://www.homedepot.com/p/YARDGARD-4-ft-x-3-1-2-in-x-1-1-2-in-Steel-Post-901154A/100025842#.Ua9_Ao59n0c
but it might look too ugly for you.
otherwise, i don't think there are many good options that don't require sinking real fence posts (aka permanent/lots of work/not cheap)
BUT my fence and gate building skills are not too shabby ( i am building one at the moment, as a matter of fact) so if you need help let me know.
(i unwittingly hijacked her uhx account)
We used to use this option for my former Snoopy's at home where we did not have a yard, but a "pasture" instead.
Bottomline: For about $140 and two hours of set-up and some training (for snoop) you will get a thing that will probably work well for a year or so.
