what the hell is this website???? Cowboys and bloody poodles dont go
together!!!! Poodles are for city slickers and Cowboys are well, Cowboys.
they are country boys not city slickers.
Please explain. . . .

This is a very good point and, as the webmistress and editor of this website, I can definitely answer your question. The phrase “Cowboyz & Poodles” is derived from a thrift store in Berlin, Germany, so named as a throwback to the olden days (the ’80s) when sophisticated, pop-art cowboy fashion was all the rage (c.f. Cowboy Curtis, Annie Potts). I borrowed “Cowboyz & Poodles” for my blog title not because I particularly like cowboys or poodles, but because it appropriately demonstrates the oxymorons I live each and every day, i.e. “urban cowgirl,” “anglo mexican,” “graceful klutz,” and many more. I was born in Wyoming, where many cowboyz (s) live, and yet in my capacity as a transplanted New Yorker I am froufy and fluffy and groomed — not unlike a poodle. And so, in effect, I am celebrating diversity: elated that I live in a world where I can be country and city at the same time.

If I may put my 3 sek on this question I’d like to say that I was offended by the reader that had a problem with me being a poodle cowboy. Regardless of how they feel it is hard work rounding up poodles on my ranch and I always felt honored that j.shep named her blog after my lifestyle.

    Dearest bushprincess_29,
I send my very deepest regards re: your recent inquiry, as I found your punctuation repetition particularly astute.
Therefore, in response, I deemed it appropriate to educate myself on this troublesome matter by putting myself in your “shoes” in order to better understand the aforementioned position.
Yet, after my tireless research (renting both ‘City Slickers’ & ‘City Slickers II – the Legend of Curly’s Gold’ from Movie Madness) I can only conclude that:
    a) What really matters in life is for each of us to find our passion, our “One Thing”, to quote Curly. Be you bovine-boy or bloody mutt.
    and
    b) John Lovitz sure as hell ain’t no Bruno Kirby

nice one, ‘cept one little thing–you named the blog well before you moved to nyc…sounds like you’re saying it was named partly because of the nyc-poodling thang.
Are you sure it wasn’t this deep psychological nugget underneath it all:
Shepherd = service that dogs provide for cowboys, aka “Cowboyz” + “Poodles” = “Shepherds”
    (dood!)
