fresh out of bed, rob rolled in to the festy around 2:30 yesterday with some extra members we picked up at the day labor center around the corner and proceeded to bring the raw van jamz to the kids out on the street in the blazing hot sun. rob managed to: piss off the sound dude, fluster a couple of festival volunteers worried about dudes climbing on top of the van, give away around 30 lionel t-shirts and countless I'm Your DJ digital download codes and gain a new SK-1 wizard junior member (nice to meet you Emory!) before bouncing the fuck out. SWEET!
to quote the festival's own live-blog review of the set:
the Rob Walmart van rolled up blasting a post-apocalyptic mish mash of hip-hop, techno, world beats, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Like much of the most interesting parts of the Portland music scene, Rob Walmart excels at creating an anarchic atmosphere, a world where all the adults and authority figures have vanished and the kids are making up the rules as they go, sometimes ending up with something more pure and vivacious and soemtimes wandering into brutish meaninglessness. You know, like in that one Souh Park episode.
Hi Adam,
Congrats on the upcoming New Clouds double album! I've been following your White Rainbow moniker since Prism of Eternal Now blew my mind in early December of 2007. We actually met when you were opening for Atlas Sound in Toronto. I asked how you built something as gorgeous as April 25th, 11:14PM and you told me you recorded it live, unplanned. Then you drew cats all over my Atlas Sound 7 inch.
Hope you're well and can't wait for the new album,
Ryan.

Hi Adam,
love your blog. Nick and I are having fun writing lots of new music for PERCASETTE, and would love to do a collaboration for our upcoming demo.
Stay tunnnnned. Good luck on everything:)
