THEN THERE WAS THE VIBE ZONE:
Here's a photo steve took of the 24 hour vibe zone we did last weekend... Boy was THAT long.....E*rock, Garrick (aka Stag Hare) and i spend much of friday night and saturday afternoon building this:

and then from 5pm saturday until 5pm sunday people gently popped in and popped out, jammed a bit, made some noise.
around 630pm Michael Hamilton and his partner Sara popped with french horns and bassoons and looper pedals. Brian Thackeray got in for a minute, as did Jason Buehler.....it was a cool scene. some kids came with their dad. Fox was running around too. Fun times.
830pm: Strategy's set was awesome 4 track cassette tape loops through various filters and delays. nice sounds,
10pm: there was a Dub-step night in the adjacent room that blasted us with bass for most of the evening (until around 230am) but Tom Greenwood took it and stride and just DJ'ed weird records and loops on top of it. E*rock added blasts.
1am Jordan played viola for a while after that, with some girls singing and whooping and playing flutes..
things got more confusing and vaporous and late night mushy. plus the dubstep bass kept it weird.
3am Gabe Mindell came over after the last Yellow Swans show on saturday night and jammed a bit with me and eric. a little while later we got some late night after-hours party people in there, but i don't know if our mellow ambient vibes suited their post-bar party vibes. or maybe it was perfect. i couldn't tell, i was really tired. I remember Kelvin and I making a loop out of him whistling, but it was mostly wind noise. At some point, Tom Blood approached the Dome. I played until i couldn't open my eyes or move my hands
430am Tom Blood and Andy Brown unexpected combo jam that went from around 430am until around 830am. then honey woke up and brought them some McDonalds breakfast...
i fell asleep around 730 until about 1pm sunday, in which time i think Tom and Eric and Andy finally lost steam and honey started jamming with no-one around.....
1pm sunday : Curtis brought over the Rob Van for early afternoon on sunday and proceeded to blast some crunk

3pm-ish sunday randomly, James Squeaky came and did a set. a refreshing dose of tape noise to clear the ambient pallet. nice.
then eric and honey and i jammed and finally started taking things apart around 430pm........the whole thing was pretty awesome.......
Garrick's Stag Hare project is something i cannot recommend highly enough. super deep chant/chimes/swells from deep in the suburbs of SLC. He was laying it down heavy off and on throughout the event. Such a kind dude. It was nice to meet him and hang out. I'm mastering his new record right now, and it will probably come out on A.Star (a little label his homies run as a collective)
some kids hitch-hiked all the way from Eugene to be there. They stayed up the entire time. Me, I crashed out of exhaustion around 7am Sunday and woke up and got back in the zone around 2pm for the last few hours of madness. All-in-all a fun, exhausting mellow zone. It was fun building the geo-dome. now if i ever end up going to that nasty cyber-tribal festival in the desert i will have both the dome building and the MIDI skills to impress all of the naked 'freaks'....
Next up: the White Rainbow, Tussle, Cluster show in SF that's coming up in a couple weeks.....
oh yeah, and did you see honey in the paper?
