here is the dirty crazy noisy drifty tipsy podcast of the white rainbow interview with michael byrne and performance at the towne lounge last sunday as part of michael's lounge series .....
from the PRA podcast FEED where you can find (through a little guess work) the other interviews and sets by ethan rose and ilyas ahmed
AND
if that doesn't satisfy your hunger for don-casts, there is adam gnade of the portland mercury's weekly nod-cast "best show worst show" that this week features tunnels, acre and some rainbow.
I almost forgot that I'm playing a weird cool show tomorrow night at the Towne Lounge. you should totally come! its gonna be something. i don't know what - but something.
This is set up by the Willamette Week/ Localcut.com's Michael Byrne. I guess when the old music editor of the willi week took off he handed the torch of this weird show/live interview concept to Michael and now he's running with it. He told me it was going to be like Inside the Actor's Studio, or perhaps Will Ferrel's impression of such, only for musicians and with the musicians actually playing some music in between all the awkward fidgeting and grand, surrealist question and answer. something like that. probably more sincere and nice. And all to be recorded for broadcast, rodcast, zod cast and dodcast via localcut, PRA(the portland radio authority) and tablesturned.com (who, btw, i am STILL waiting to drop the second two days of PDXPOP fest recordings on their site..)
anyway, here is the info from Byrne via the willamette week:
Portland Lounge Series: White Rainbow, Ethan Rose, Ilyas Ahmed
Towne Lounge | 714 SW 20th Place, 241-8696 [map]
[AMBIENT/CHATTY] This is the second installment of the Portland Lounge Series, in which one of WW's Local Cutters (check out LocalCut.com to get acquainted) gathers three prime characters in Portland music and chats them up onstage, then lets 'em loose. This month leans toward—nay, plunges into— the local ambient/psych scene. White Rainbow, a.k.a. Adam Forkner, is nothing short of ubiquitous in Portland at the moment: It's hard to walk five blocks on any given night without catching a blissful echo. Ethan Rose made my favorite record of 2005, Ceiling Songs, a disc of music boxes and player pianos effected into sublime ambience. And Ilyas Ahmed, a recent import, has integrated himself into our local musicscape quicker than imaginable. He's fresh off a tour with Xiu Xiu and Grouper, so there should of plenty of good tales to match the good vibes. This also marks my first time onstage for longer than five minutes...ever. Please don't laugh if I piss myself. MICHAEL BYRNE. Towne Lounge. 9:30 pm. Free. 21+.

inspired in no little way by dj totaly cutie's rodcast over at statesrightsrecords.com and zach reno's podcast over at Home here is my first dodcast as DJ INfinity Boogie.

i was hoping this mix would sound like we found this cool tape underneath the seat of honey's truck or something. maxell type I cassette with the pink and yellow triangles and circles...kind of distorted and blown out......
lots of the tunes come from the awesome mp3 blogs curved-air.com and fm-shades.blogspot.com
listen to honey play her cool new old air organ! (MP3 - 476KB) she says "thanks to karl for the surprise gift in the mail!"
it makes lots of trippy overtones and undertones and weird beating patterns. mmm nice!!
i love websites like these : unviversal-hologram.com
of special interest are the laser light and sound chakra laser and laser party photos....
they look like they're having fun, right?
no real news on the home front. just working and trying to finish up the next white rainbow album for kranky. looks like its going to be a double disc. with some sort of vinyl representation of some of the music on marriage. have to think of album title(s). and we got our tickets to los angeles for the trudi show next month (if in LA come to trudi gallery on the 16th of december for white rainbow installation) working on an extremely limited acetate/dubplate 12inch with handpainted/screened for that thing. looks like honey's valet record blood is clean will be re-issued on kranky soon too, with an added track of some drift for all the trippers.
anyway.....we go now to sublime frequencies movie night at the clinton st!
peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
