uhhhh....so the healing hut got written up in a bunch of the local newspapers. i thought i would archive the articles ive found online here with the rest of the stuff and then all the stuff can be together and we/i can look back at the stuff in the future and all of it will be together in one big vibrational healing archive of stuff.

someone named DK Row at the Oregonian wrote this on friday september 16th

"Cots or beds should be added to the scenery of "White Rainbow," Adam Forkner's ambient sound and image installation at Corberry Press. The soft cushions and white carpet where viewers sit and lie may not be enough for those who give themselves over entirely to the languorous melange of windy sound and steady beams of colorful rays and gyrating patterns projected onto one of the walls via Forkner's computer.

Described as a "vibrational healing center," "White Rainbow" recalls light images you might see at a Grateful Dead concert as well as the restful silence of a new age spa. Forkner, who bears a striking resemblance to the young George Harrison, mans his computer on the carpet, while visitors sit, watch, listen or drift into a sleepy, narcotic state. Background noises from other events going on at Corberry Press, including the flushing of a toilet, intrude momentarily but ultimately fail to mar the work's foggy vibes.

Continues 7:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. daily through Sunday. Corner of Northwest Northrup Street and 17th Avenue. -- D.K. Row"

(thanks DK! im glad you liked the space! no one has ever said i looked like george, though my father did, (at one point in the mid-80s whilst growing a beard), look strikingly like paul...):

mike mcgonigal wrote this in the arts and performance section of this weeks willamette week, gave it a "pick". thanks mike!

"White Rainbow

One of the festival's true "must-see" happenings is "Full-Spectrum Vibrational Healing Center," by North Portlander Adam Forkner, a.k.a. White Rainbow. He's transformed a former office space in the Corberry Press into a mind-blowing, lo-high-tech meditation zone. Inside the all-white, soft, loungey space, Forkner crouches in the corner performing blissed-out, four-channel electro-acoustic drones, while the videoprojections (especially those by E*Rock) are overpowering and mostly brilliant. This is modern psychedelic art that approaches the same level as Yayoi Kusama's reflection pool piece at last year's Whitney Biennial or the spirited and spiritual kitsch of the Assume Vivid Astro Focus collective. MIKE MCGONIGAL. TBA at Corberry Press, Northwest 17th Avenue and Northrup Street, 224-7422. 7:30 pm-12:30 am Wednesday-Sunday, Sept. 14-18. Free. All ages."

Amy Vecchione wrote this incredibly nice article about the center, the zome cd and the box set in the friday sept 9th 2005 Portland Tribune:

"Audio project offers rest for the weary
The Time-Based Art Festival involves plenty of performances that incorporate music, but White Rainbow’s installation, “Full Spectrum Vibrational Healing Center,” is a work that begins with meditative sound from which an entire piece develops.
Adam Forkner, the mastermind behind the White Rainbow project, describes his TBA production as an “ambient/audio/visual/ sound/light/space/time vibrational healing center.”
The plan is that it will convert the offices of Corberry Press into a large dome, or “zome,” filled with live sound sculptures and video projects. Soft cushions will be available, and audience members are encouraged to be relaxed and soothed by an array of auditory bliss.
The minimalist environment provided by Forkner will evolve during the 11 days of its existence from psychedelic ecstasy to ambient drones, each sound meant to provide comfort to the listener.
States Rights Records, a Portland-based label, recently released Forkner’s album “Zome,” and it shares the same ethereal qualities as this larger work. Begun as a love letter composed while Forkner was on tour with the Dirty Projectors, this studio work is pure ambient pop, with sweet and loving vocals.
The first song, “Guilded Golden Ladies,” serves as a rock letter of devotion. Forkner calls his relationship with partner Honey Owens “eternal love.” Each song meanders through abstract and breezy melodies, and steadies with calming, beautiful and animated pop structures.
“White Rainbow Box,” which contains five CDs of music and one DVD, will be available at the performance events during TBA. The CDs range from vivid dreamlike peaceful tones to noisier cacophonies. The DVD has the same level of diversity, and features local artists E-Rock and Alex Hubbard.

a preview in the Portland Mercury (Sept 8th 2005), written by Chas Bowie.

"White Rainbow—ongoing at Corberry Press, NW 17th & Northrup

Musician Adam Forkner, AKA White Rainbow, is at the forefront of Portland's experimental psychedelic movement. His band World, which Forkner comprises with his partner Honey Owens, is a startlingly emotive and moving abstract ensemble that finds the duo alternately screaming, twiddling knobs, thumping tablas, and manipulating guitar feedback with an unnerving sense of control and architecture. For TBA, Forkner is creating a 10-day trip-out center—a combination sound sculpture/video environment in the lobby of the Corberry Press. The artist plans to man the "temporary zome structure" for the duration of the festival, which should add multiple layers of intensity to his already passionate work. CB"

images from the first night of the white rainbow healing center at 17th and northrup
the space is up, the room is white, the foam is very very soft. come have a moment with us......
come out tonight or any night until next sunday from 730p to 1230 (or so)am, minus some down time for a few little black box performances in the adjoining theater

anyone who contacted me re: volunteering, i hope to hear back from the official volunteer coordinator today and get you guys on the schedule as soon as we can

also tonight is honey's come together performance at 1am at 18th and northrup. just show up, say you are a part of the come together performance, don a sunset colored vibe shirt with awesome hand-sewn custom audio trigger speaker, dance and commune with the 50-100 other vibe brothers and sisters. yes!!

as many of you may know, i am doing this crazy thing for this years PICA TBA festival (more info on the entire awesome fest at http://www.pica.org/tba2005 )

basically im going to be in this sweet white room with a bunch of cushions, soft carpet, a parachute for a ceiling with psychedelic ambient video trips and 4 to 8 channel ambient audio trips for people to come and relax and enjoy

this will be from 730pm to 1230am every night starting tomorrow thursday the 8th all the way through sunday the 17th

i will be in the space making music during all open hours

the building it will be in is called the corberry press building and it also houses a self-serve tea and coffee lounge with three TVs with continuously playing video pieces

ANYWAY, THE FESTIVAL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS TO LOOK AFTER THIS SPACE DURING THE OPEN HOURS. IN EXCHANGE YOU GET FREE PASSES TO THE WHOLE FESTIVAL (these cost over 100 bucks)

so if you or any one you know is interested in volunteering on any of the nights between sept8th thru the 17th (in exchange for festival passes) let me know immediately and i will put you in touch with the dudes in charge

basically you will be hanging out with me as i make the trips, if the person was interested, they could help me and learn how i do my stuff (computers, guitars, effects, etc)

here is the email i got from the curator of the space

hi Adam,

Liz (volunteer coordinator) is having trouble finding
volunteers to watch over Corberry Press while it's
open, from 7:30 to 12:30.

Do you think you could round up some friends to hang out
in there during those hours, to watch over the tv's
and help direct people to the self-serve coffee and
tea? They can get passes to the shows and the Works in
exchange.

any ideas on this is appreciated. you can give me a
call - 503.936.8970

cheers,
morgan

one million things to write down. my new job delivering wine for the mellow, dude-ish phil smith. three to five hours four days a week. getting paid per box delivered. some weeks slower than others. still lots of places to deliver even if its just one or two boxes of wine. restaurants are cool, although driving around in traffic from 12 till 4 pm while the sun blazes into the car is exhausting. not to mention the lugging of wine around. the grocery stores want you there in the morning, and they want you to stock their shelves and put price tags on everything. that sucks. making around 200 to 250 a week. still feel so damn broke. bills and rent and holy shit GAS. my old friend dan got married on the coast. honey and i played music for the wedding in the baking sun a few miles up the hills from the coast around newport/waldport, OR. college friends in town. franz sarah up from LA, sean and sandra in from chicago, walter up from san francisco, hubbard in from NYC, john sturm and saarah in from panama, other dudes....yeah. a very quiet, nonintrusive, almost invisible yume bitsu reunion show (with honey too) at steve's cd release party. nice. prichard being prichard, forkner being forkner, owens being owens. just got up there and jammed for a minute. i guess it got mildly loud at one point. i forgot about the prichardian talent for making up chord progressions. lots of lying around the house very tired but not wanting to sleep yet. lots of forgetting to eat all day running around and then gourging later. got a little sick on the coast from the fog or something, had a little asthma. it felt funny buying an ephidrine inhaler in a town so stricken by the wrath of crystal meth. like i thought they were gonna be more suspicious. they weren't. lots of honey going to the bins from 7am on and then waiting for me to come home then instantly getting in the car to go selling. lots of renting bad african american comedies and clint eastwood movies trying to stay focused on the completion of the white rainbow box set and world cds, honey getting ready for her performance piece, me mildly prepping for the healing center vibe spot, meanwhile people are fighting and dying all around.
