while hanging out with the devendra freedom recording movement last month in woodstock ny, i met these amazing beautiful people called 'feathers'. there were 7 of them and they smelled and felt like the softest wood, fur, grass vapor you would ever taste. devendra wanted them to sing on a song called 'mexico' and gave them the words which turned into flash-cards which turned into me, jona and feathers (lorring in the kitchen channeling food) singing and jamming with vibe sticks, fireplace-den and adam's borrowed computer, all of this still called 'mexico'. here is almost 10 minutes of it in it's raw form.

so honey has been wanting to start an online mp3 label for all the cool, obscure, never-to-be-heard-otherwise music she discovers. she wants to share these vibrations with you. so in preparation for getting her own blog to this end, (hopefully right here at urbanhonking.com), im going to let her take over my blog as much as she wants and start her mp3 blog/label/project right here. and when she does get her own space, we'll just transfer whatever she posts here onto it.

so ive been kind of unmotivated lately
the weather has been changing so much that it got me, honey and our next door neuhbor sick with lung shit...ick. cough up snot on the drive way i think he lung is fucked up, to quote the all mighty
lots of things to finish but nothing done to get the ball really rolling with some momentum
i guess its all a bit of spiritual backlash from canceling all european summer tour plans being in other dudes bands to concentrate on self-vibes and personal art projects......
im with jona in feeling hard pressed to keep these sorts of webspaces updated when not on the road
but this whole npt going on tour thing is yet another one of my plans on trying to create an intresting creative inspiring positive life that doesnt involve driving around the country and the world playing rock shows.....because honestly the kind of creative things i want to do have less and less to do with the neo-traditional worldwide indie touring circuit. at least thats part of it. the other part being that i have neglected my own artistic endeavors for the last year+. i took a long break. some might remember my "retirement" statements of late 2003. i had to adjust my expectations and wants and desires and get some perspective on the whole "music as a career" thing. i find that everyone has slightly different dreams and goals in playing music. i've done the whole put out records on nice, known labels and tour in support of said recordings thing. ive had my records reviewed in the online and print magazines of our times
yeah,............well i've done adjusted, then i got caught up in being in other dudes projects. dudes i love and respect and enjoy playing with, but i was neglecting myself
so its time to get back into doing stuff on my own and with honey and getting some art out into the world. before people start to only think of me as a backing musician, or just a producer guy, or that guy who used to be in his own band but now just hangs around other dudes......like my bros jona and dave and devendra and tom and honey and steve and curtis and adrian and kyle....like, do my own thing. not that im in competition for attention with these guys, nor do i, like i said, have the same goals or dreams as any of my friends. just time to figure out and nurture what those dreams and creative impulses are. and get going on them. and create some much needed momentum for my personal life
so yeah. gotta get on the ball and start doing shit
