Basketball sensation Lebron James signed with the Coca-Cola Company to be part of the Sprite and Powerade brands. Lebron has inked around 120 million dollars in endorsement deals just in the last two months.
"I've been drinking Sprite and Powerade for a long time," James said in a statement released Thursday. "I have always admired the way Sprite and Powerade spoke to young people and athletes, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
A Coca-Cola rep said, "We're hoping that LeBron can help in the resurgence of Powerade just like he could help in the resurgence of Cleveland Cavaliers basketball." Coke is saying that Lebron is not a replacement for Kobe Bryant in the Sprite line. Kobe is still under contract and could theorectically still be used if found not guilty in his sexual assault case.
PS-Nikesoccer has awesome new ads.
PPS-I don't like the Apple Computer ads for the G5 computer. They are dumb.
PPPS-That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to use a G5 computer.
PPPPS-G5!!! Sounds so awesome.

TV Experiments, Part 2
by steve

I decided about three weeks ago to try to watch as much Saved by the Bell as possible and see if it affects my life at all. I've been watching about 2 episodes a day, and I can't say much defintively, but while watching it makes me feel really carefree, happy, and relaxed. The episodes that have made the most lasting impact have been dealing with serious issues such as: disabled people (Zack dates a girl in a wheelchair and becomes overly aware and makes her disability too big of an issue), and drunk driving (Zack gets in a wreck while driving Lisa's mom's car home from a party). I don't think they are the best episodes but they stick with me longer. Does anyone have any good ideas for tracking the Saved By The Bell effect on my life?

Amazing Race Winners
by steve

A married (not legally) gay couple won the reality TV show The Amazing Race this last week. It became a news story because they are gay and married. The Amazing Race is the best show on television. They were both really attractive, sorta uptight, worked really hard, were very good at the physical aspects of the race. The best part is there names are Chip and Reichen. CHIP! Good job guys.

TV Experiments
by steve

On the show Big Brother 4: The X Factor they have food competitions and if they lose some or all of the houseguests have to go on a Peanut Butter-n-Jelly only diet for a week. This inspired me close to a month ago to start eating these sorely forgotten sandwiches. For the last 3 weeks I have had at least one pb-n-j sandwich a day. They are so good. 9 days ago I bought a 5 pound bucket of peanut butter and today I am proud to say it is more than half gone. I hope this isn't bad for me.

On last night's Big Brother there was a competition for the Golden Power of Veto and everyone was asked privately by the host of the show, Julie Chen, if they would want to accept the Golden Power of Veto if it forced all the other houseguests to go on the pb-n-j diet for the remaining time on the (show). No one accepted. She then lowered it to two weeks. No one accepted. She then made her final offer of one week. One man accepted the offer, and when this was revealed everyone got so pissed. The move really backfired on him, as he wasn't really a target before, and now he totally is. I think I should join the Big Brother houseguests in a week of pb-n-j diet solidarity! Anyone else wanna get in??

Streetball
by steve

Streetball on ESPN is currently one of my favorite shows. It follows the And1 street basketball tour around the country as they look for future prospects, play exhibitions, and excite crowds. The personalities are intriguing, the basketball is very entertaining, and the quest for undiscovered talent is really engaging. They invite a local unknown who plays in an open run from each city to join the tour, but they can't ever have more than three new talents on the tour at a time, so they have to vote one of the undiscovereds (either the pick from the current city or one of the three from a previous city).

"The Professor" (all players are referred to by streetball nicknames instead of their christian names) has to be the most interesting portion of the entire show. He was picked up on the second date of the entire tour (here in little Portland, OR) and has made it through 19 games without getting kicked out. Oh, yeah, he's also white, short, looks like he's 13, and from Salem (BTW-he's a backup point guard for a Community College in Salem and he's really 19 years old) . He looks so out of place. He's awkwardly much shorter than everyone else on the court and he is the only white player, but his novelty factor isn't what has kept him from being kicked off, it's that he is the best player and the most entertaining player they've picked up. His passing, dribbling, and speed are all something to be in awe of. It's amazing he gets any shots in over these 6 foot 10 inches studs with 45 inch jumping ability, but he is consistently making crazy fall away layups and getting the crowd on their feet. Here's to hoping he makes it all the way.
