The Mouth: DRUG

Posted by: steve

The Mouth returns with a mini medley of ballads about DRUGS. We here at Uncle/Urbanhonking would never condone drug use. NEVER. EVER. WE CONDONE NOTHING. We just think crooning about drugs is a funny joke.

RIP Kirby Puckett

Posted by: steve

Kirby Puckett was my childhood hero. He was a baseball player who played for the Minnesota Twins for 12 seasons. He was a short (5'8"), round man who moved with incredible speed considering his short legs and a belly that one would think would be a hinderance. He had a cherubic face that was always plastered with a sincere smile. He had a love for the game that was unparalleled. A phenomenal player who was a 10 time all star, and brought 2 World Series championships to Minnesota. His career was cut short when he was hit in the eye with a baseball which then caused severe Glaucoma.

I said goodbye to my hero a couple years ago when Mr. Puckett was charged with sexual assault and it came to light he had some pretty severe problem especially since he was forced into early retirement. That made me sad, but it didn't take away what he meant to me as a youth: overcoming physical limitations, positivity, hard work, being cool. This second goodbye is still sad, and so I made an awkward and short slideshow.

Kirby Puckett had a stroke and died yesterday. He was 45.
