now, at 7-11, if you buy 77NT (about 3 dollars USD) worth of goods, you get one of these tiny magnets. im trying to collect them myself, but have a bit of a personal conflict; i had just made a stencil that i put up around town, of a hello kitty with dollar signs for eyes. but i have a horrible affection for collecting things, especially where hello kitty is involved. i don't know exactly how to explain it, but i've completely turned coat. 7-11 also just happened to be the first place i choose to put my stencil, so i feel as if they've planned the whole thing. of course this is ludicrous... but still... i feel pretty awful. its amazing how much i spend in 7-11 now. what begins as a trip for a single bottle of tea, turns into chocolate, biscuits, toys, newspapers, magazines... anything i think i could use... just to acquire another one of these damned magnets.
anyhow... i really wanted someone to translate the whole contest part for me, and post about it... but then the next challenge was released, and now i am completely distracted.
who do i interview? a taiwanese? someone important? should i try to get a hold of tsai ming liang? hou xiao hsien? a beetle-nut girl? im so overwhelmed... and i had so many plans for tomorrow too....

normally i'm not gay at all, but when i see hello kitty i want to make love to men!
or at least hold hands with men!

nice! ask him how he got from repo man to mighty ducks...
and i've thought about interviewing joel, actually.... or lyova... but i haven't gotten a hold of either (or really tried that hard). anyhow... i'd feel like i'd be neglecting taiwan and the fact that i live here if i didn't interview a taiwanese...

also... if anyone sends me a nice mixed tape or cd, i will send them all my extra hello kitty magnets... i have a bunch. if two people send me something, i'll split them... and promise to visit 7-11 for several more. i still need 1985, 1993, 1991, 1989, 2003, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1997. i think the statistics of me finding them all without spending a fortune, is getting slim to none... i might have to start ebaying for the rest... maybe they will go on my amazon wishlist for my brithday later this month.
anyhow... im trying to devious a way to steal one of these patches
... i think its totally cool that they have the employees pin them on with big fat safety pins. maybe i should ask for a part time job. i wonder if i can get wireless in the stock room.

My sister used to work for a company that published many fine Hello Kitty children's books (short on words-heavy on pictures of Hello Kitty)and at an event held by Sanrio she talked to the person in the Hello Kitty costume and was clued in to the official rules of conduct for Hello Kitty. Kitty can not talk, but she is allowed to dance, hug, and bow.

James: you should have linked a picture of George sporting that Hello Kitty surgical mask.
In fact, if you can get me one of those, I'd be more than happy to send you a mix.

Ah! James!
You take first turn to unveil the "Hello Cat"!!! I have produced many thoughts on this matter. Initially, it befalls me as a total shock and, dare I say, heart-attack material to see all these masculines that don the "Hello Cat" attire here, but now I am making acceptance of all these strangenesses. In my homelands, you will not dare to wear these things, because they will entitle you as a homosexualist or one with small manhood, but in Japan it is not so stigmal, because of variables in the mores. Also, they expand this beyond the notions of "Cat": I have seen on numerous occasions, the "Hello Mutton" rip-off, and today I caught glimpses of the "Hello Rabbit"! This exemplifies how that place is making my horizons fat, to understand the difference in worlds, to grasp the culture bash, to accept other mores...
Today, I love these "Hello Animal".... And I also love these pictures you make...
