Ritchey was born in Texas to a prominent journalist and a librarian who knew a lot of famous people (Laura Bush, Jim Lehrer, Drew Barrymore, etc). At 7, her parents moved to rural Colorado and built a house with no electricity or running water. She has always been a brilliant writer, artist, and person, but it was in a small college just outside of Portland, OR that she "came into her own." She wrote an opera, was unemployed for over a year, won a grant from the state of Oregon, toured with several of the Pacific Northwest's second-or-third finest semi-ironic pop/rock bands, and now is about to go to grad school at UCLA.
