Immunity and more left in hands of the contestants

Posted on: May 21, 2005 1:03 AM

Normally right now we would be telling you who has won immunity for Challenge #6 and saying how tough it was to judge; but tonight we have given that grueling task to the contestants themselves.

All the power is in their hands. as they each make a list of the most deserving to the least. We will compile and post the net results. This is the most important challenge to date as 2 contestants will be eliminated!

What is going to happen? We cannot wait to find out!

Comments:

thats not fair ! everybody was given Immunity ,when it comes to my turn you delet the imunity role...

you could say "we dont give immunity to Kurds" at first ! during this competttion even though in some challenges I was the best , I never gotten the immunity ...and now at the end when everbody gets the immunity except me ... no Immunity will be given .

thats discrimination.

Posted by: medya at May 21, 2005 6:42 AM

as we kurds been facing descrimination for handreds of the year , by our occupiers -arabs-turks-iranians-
there is a kurdish saying for descrimination

"you could simply say (I dont give ride to Kurds) than doing all this"

Posted by: medya at May 21, 2005 6:45 AM

this is nt the game I applied to play , in that game's rule never I read such a thing...

you should better tell the players about the law before the game , so they dont feel discrimination , when you change the law

Posted by: medya at May 21, 2005 6:54 AM

Medya,
There is no such thing as "turns" when it comes to immunity. It is just luck so far that no one has won immunity twice. Immunity was always given by a panel of judges you came to a conclusion of a winner. You were close to winning before. Lois is also yet to win immunity. There is no discrimination.
How can you say this is not the game you applied to play? When you applied there were no rules stated. And when we started we explained how it would work for that week, never for the whole game.
We have only given you more power in this game, so I don't understand the reason you are upset.
Steve

Don't be a pussy, Medya.

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 21, 2005 8:35 AM

Are you serious, Medya? Just because you didn't get what you want doesn't mean it was descrimination against Kurds.
Also, you haven't yet lost immunity. Immunity hasn't been "deleted." The power of granting it has just been transferred -- transferred to YOU, the PLAYERS. So make some deals, or whatever.

Posted by: Azure at May 21, 2005 10:28 AM

i dony say it is discrimination to kurds because i didnt get it .
i say it is discrimination to change the law before it complete a cycle !

before it comes to my turn they changed the law, they could wait untill the cycle be completed then for the next round , you transfer those who choose the immunity to another .

not just when it is my turn , or lois's turn you change the law.

Posted by: medya at May 21, 2005 12:53 PM

There is no such thing a "getting a turn", Medya.
Immunity must be earned.
There is no cycle.
If we did it the normal way this week someone like Lyova or James or anyone who already won immunity could have won it again. It would not necessarily been you or Lois.

Posted by: Steve Schroeder at May 21, 2005 1:01 PM

you are right in this way but the cycle had to be continued until everybody has the the same chance .

me and lois hasnt given the same chance...
while I was close to get immunity before , but the chance postponed my immunity for the next challenges....
and now Me and Lois , have to be judged by super allience not the "former" judges who had given immunity ...

well I am not gonna continue this discussion ...it isnt important to me at all. but you had to wait 2 challenge to change the law.

Posted by: medya at May 21, 2005 1:06 PM

Medya, I like you and find that you have some interesting insights to share with us. But the reason you haven't gotten immunity yet is because none of your posts have been the strongest in a challenge. Nothing in the rules says that everyone gets a chance at immunity.

As a 'viewer,' I have even felt that the judges were being overly nice in giving immunity. It could easily have gone to 2 or 3 of the same people a couple of times in my opinion. Theoretically, the same person could get it every time by being the best/most creative writer.

It's not that you're not interesting and creative, you're just up against some seriously strong competition!

Posted by: sarah at May 21, 2005 1:33 PM

The game's not SUPPOSED to be fair, Medya. No reality-based competition ever is.

Posted by: josh at May 21, 2005 2:37 PM

Medya, what you say is clearly ridiculous. No one ever promised you or anyone else immunity. The entire point of immunity is that it is merit-based, and thus it inspires the players to do their very best. It is a reward for creative, inspired, thoughtful blogging. That makes the game better, because it makes the posts better. If it is guaranteed to every player, there is no reason for the players to work hard on their posts.

If you have not yet WON immunity, it's because you haven't EARNED it by having the best post.

The boys at UB don't have a racist bone in their bodies. Know this.

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 21, 2005 4:18 PM

Wow, that's pretty bad form Medya. I think the situation in your country is starting to affect you a lot if you can seriously think some sweet guys from oregon have an issue with the kurds. Just chill out Medya. What happens, happens. It's just a game. And seriously, if you want an ipod shuffle that much, I'll send you one from my own wages...!

Posted by: mimi at May 21, 2005 4:34 PM

Lois has gotten immunity? Crap, I need to start following this more. I miss one week of updates and now it's all this hullabaloo.

Posted by: karsh at May 21, 2005 5:12 PM

lois hasn't won an immunity, has she?

i thought the cat one was pretty far out, though.

Posted by: Kevin Ferguson at May 21, 2005 6:05 PM

Medya, what the fuck? I defend you against that mean ol' dude Joel and this is how you repay me? With a bunch of bizarre ranting? Come on man, you're better than this.

Posted by: Craig at May 21, 2005 8:50 PM

Okay guys, come on.
Medya got carried away, we can all see that. But he's been told already! No need to keep beating him up about it.

Posted by: willow at May 21, 2005 10:09 PM

I amited , and confessed to steve that his is right in the case, that immunity int a Turn.
but I just meant, we all must have the same chance.

you had to wait 2 challenged to change the law ,so everybody has the same chance to be judged by the same judges, then after that 2 challenges, you culd change the law.

Posted by: medya at May 22, 2005 3:28 AM

I can't watch anymore. This guy is still in the contest? I feel sorry for the stellar UB crew for even having to put up with this confused youngster. And I thought I was the confused youngster! This "Medya" is a conspiracy theorist, butcher of the English language, and embarassment to the Ultimate Blogger contest. The UB crew did nothing wrong with the rule switch-up, it's the way these games work, it's what keeps them interesting. If anything "Medya" received preferrential treatment in the selection process due to his age, location, and heritage.

Quite the opposite of:

"thats not fair ! everybody was given Immunity ,when it comes to my turn you delet the imunity role..."

or "as we kurds been facing descrimination for handreds of the year , by our occupiers -arabs-turks-iranians-
there is a kurdish saying for descrimination you could simply say (I dont give ride to Kurds) than doing all this"

Medya, use your head, and your spellchecker, and stop being a stain on this contest.

ha ha ...joel you are a looser , you cant make ppl belive what you want.

there is no problem in my being young ! most of the world's bloggers are young . as young as me.

and there is no proble in my english ! you better know I can speak 4 languages ! -can you tell me how many langauges you can speak ? lol-

hm... I am not destroying ultimate blogger game, I am just suggesting them, and you joel are still reaptratin the same thing...

I already explained that I was convinced , with Seteve's explaintion. and I just had a suggestion .
that was "to wait 2 more chalege to change the rule" ! I am not mermering or something...I stll enjoy this game. It is just suggeestion for the next UB .(next year)

Posted by: medya at May 22, 2005 8:14 AM

You may speak a language or two, but English isn't one of them. Your last post proves this. An absolute abortion.

"and there is no proble in my english !"
"Seteve's explaintion"
".joel you are a looser , you cant make ppl belive what you want."
"It is just suggeestion for the next UB"

Fucking rich. I'm not saying my Kurdish is any better, I'm just saying you are a retarded child.

Enjoy Your Day,
Joel

-again thx for the energy you gave me to continue the game-

Posted by: medya at May 22, 2005 8:56 AM

Now this is more like it Medya. You are once again super awesome.

Posted by: Craig at May 22, 2005 9:34 AM

joel, please don't use "retarded" in that context.

Posted by: maggie murphy at May 22, 2005 11:53 AM

Yeah, agreed. While you're at it, please don't use abortion in that context either. People go through a lot in their lives and your consideration is greatly appreciated. I know you don't want to come off as a tacky dude...

Posted by: Jona at May 22, 2005 1:25 PM

Sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I will choose my words more carefully in the future. Again, I apologize.

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 22, 2005 1:36 PM

So, who has won immunity, anyway?

Posted by: Amber at May 22, 2005 4:09 PM

What I mean is, weren't those results going to be compiled and posted?

Posted by: Amber at May 22, 2005 4:35 PM

Everything will be revealed in the new video which will be be released late tonight/early morning.

Posted by: mimi at May 23, 2005 8:46 AM

thats not ture , i never sent e-mail to her.

Posted by: medya at May 23, 2005 9:11 AM

I told you guys about this asshole. Mimi, don't be phased, this guy is, and I'm sorry to reiterate:

Retarded: 1 : to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishment : IMPEDE 2 : to delay academic progress by failure to promote intransitive senses

(Not to make any comment on the developmentally challenged, straight up literal)

And his comments are an:

Abortion: An arrest of development (as of a part or process) resulting in imperfection.

(Not to make a comment on a medical procedure, again, straight literal)

Lyova told me yesterday that the little punk offered to form an alliance with him "as long as you send me iPod shuffle".

Prick. Dick. Asshole. Rude. Loser. Bad speller. Horrible writer.

And all you dudes thought I was the big meanie. How dare anyone say these things about Mimi. Read her blog. She is not a whore. I applaud her for cutting and pasting the comments sent to her from this bastard. Hopefully this will expose him once and for all for who he is and how he thinks. I'm sorry the UB crew got duped into chosing a now known troglodyte.

I don't know Mimi. We are not in "cahoots". I simply find this appalling, disparaging, and worse than all, stinking of the overwhellming misogyny prevelant amongst the mostly Sunni Muslim Kurdish population. Shame on you, Medya. Shame on contestants that involve(d) him in an alliance. This is sad and wrong. I am sorry , Mimi, don't put on that burqa just yet, this shameful prick is outta here. Mark my words.

Love Always,
Joel Conrad Bechtolt

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 23, 2005 9:28 AM

what the hell? theres some fucked up virus sent by someone (looks like medya) that has screwed with the images in the den and replaced them with evil messages. this is mad. why has noone else seen this??? steve mike? its like cyber hell...

Posted by: piu piu at May 23, 2005 9:36 AM

no i see. it was my computer being funny with all the images and showing html, and me being freaked out by Mimi and lyova posting their evil messages

urgh!

Posted by: piu piu at May 23, 2005 9:41 AM

This is a desperate longshot, but if anyone thinks that (in true reality show form) that a contestant previously voted off could be invited to come back in place of one who cannot be involved anymore for obvious reasons, I, Joel Conrad Bechtolt, am game for any such scenario.

Email Steve with your thoughts: steve@statesrightsrecords.com

Thank you for your consideration.

Love,
Joel

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 23, 2005 10:35 AM

wow, this got really ugly pretty fast.

in true reality show form, I suppose.
so many different layers of bottoming out,
holy crap.

now I know what a gagortion is.

Posted by: nonnie mouse at May 23, 2005 10:56 AM

I agree with Nonnie, reality sure can get ugly. Over time it sure can bring out people's true colors. So I sing now to Medya:

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Too bad his true colors are so ugly, the farthest thing from a rainbow. It must be rough to live in Kurdistan, so my love and sympathy are out there. To be young and dumb in Kurdistan? Even harder. If they let you stay, Medya, play nice. Stop lying about sending the emails to Mimi and Lyova. These are smart people who know how to trace stuff. It was you. Now is the time for an apology.

Carpe Diem,
Joel Conrad Bechtolt

PS: Nonnie, what is a "gagortion"? I've never heard that one!

Posted by: Joel Conrad Bechtolt at May 23, 2005 11:08 AM

This is madness...does someone need to take Medya in the corner and smack him around? Sending out e-mails about fucking people's sisters and hoping they catch AIDS and calling women whores? Pulling the race card and saying you got voted off for being Iranian? That'd be just as dumb of me to say I got voted off because I was Black! Your attitude really sucks and you should be glad to have even been in this competition; these nine other bloggers ran circles around your ass for six weeks and made it look good. It's time for you to take a time out.

P.S.: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention your poor grammar and spelling with Englis. I swear to God it makes me cringe just looking at it.

Posted by: karsh at May 23, 2005 7:05 PM

I appreciate you, Karsh, and love your blog. You are my favorite gay Black man today. Hands down. I think if we met, we would be friends.

Love,
Joel
