  • Remember, you're not endorsing the person you vote for. You're just selecting them from a list of choices, less than ideal those choices may be.
  • Hey guys! People YES for Jeff Merkley, Earl Blumenauer, and John Kitzhaber. For local Oregon races, I can generally recommend OLCV’s candidate endorsements. Measures Measure 86 - Post-secondary education fund - YES OPB story Measure 87 - Employme…

  • Vanilla is a flavor! It is not the absence of flavor. I feel like it gets a bum rap.

  • There's a pottery throwing one. And one where you wrap a rope around a geometric stone. Those might be up your alley.
  • I just sold my 4s for $150 online. Cool deal.
  • @DrJ, no, no socialist alternative candidates have gotten anywhere in Portland. All city council elections are citywide, which makes it harder. But none have made notable runs for the legislature, either.

  • Christian neighbors are my dealbreaker
  • Right, and it's counter to urban planning that promotes density, and it's a facilitator of gentrification. Not that anyone's got gentrification licked, but inadequate housing stock is a powerful force for it.
  • After you boil your water, what's it full of at that point? Dead E Coli! Who wants to drink a bunch of dead bacteria? Gross!
  • These things they use for logging are amazing — it's basically a big tractor with a long robot arm and a funny-looking attachment. You manipulate it to grasp your victim tree near the base, and then slice through it right there on the spot while sti…

  • Pretty cool solo day with the kid — World Forestry Center (great logging machine simulator!), giant chess downtown, pinball at Ground Kontrol, and lounging outside in this surprisingly nice weather.

  • If you win one of those positions you're sentenced to going to local Democratic Party committee meetings for the duration of your term. Cruel and unusual punishment.
  • Yeah, that's where you're registered, Flossy. You can change it online and the next one will go wherever you like.
  • Good job guys, we did good.
  • Whoa, the "flag of equal marriage" is cool! One star for each state that has legal same-sex marriage.
  • Andrew: Yes. Multnomah County Elections, 1040 SE Morrison St. Right next to YU. Walk on in. If you were previously registered in Oregon, you can update your registration and you should be able to vote in this election. If you've never been registe…
  • Hey, did anyone vote yet? I dropped my ballot on Sunday, so it hasn't been recorded as "voted" just yet. It was easier than I thought it would be. Sometimes there are those elections for Judge or something where you have no information, but all of …

  • I'm getting a wristband this year, for the first time. Doesn't it grant me the godlike power to skip long lines?
  • I watched just that part and felt the same way. I went back and watched the whole interview and I didn't. (No big surprise, context matters!) The candidate been talking over people and puffing himself up like he was important. He was being a dick to…
  • If I missed stuff, post additional questions here and I'll update. Do you guys want me to post, after the election, the names of otherwise upstanding UHXers who didn't vote? That seems like it would be fun. (As you may recall, how you vote is priva…
  • Those were all right-wing guys (Republican candidates for US Senate), but that one guy just had an attitude problem. Sort of amusing to see him get all bent out of shape and get kicked out. WW recommendations this time are fine. Especially importan…
  • He would probably turn me in. He's a real law and order baby.
  • I bought a festival pass! First time for me.
  • This is what happens when there are public votes on people's human rights. The idea that gay people are lesser people than everyone else, who deserve fewer rights, is legitimized by the question's very appearance on the ballot. "He has an opinion!…
